We all have our favorite souvenirs and things to buy on our vacations to Disneyland and Disney World. I know I do!
Some popular things to buy are Minnie ears, pins, souvenir shirts, Loungefly backpacks, and spirit jerseys.
There are some things the parks sell that people buy like crazy that we just don’t understand why people buy though. We’ll discuss those in this article.
1. Popcorn Buckets
I’ll be the first to admit, the specialty Disney parks popcorn buckets are insanely cute.
Also, we own one. The one we have is a Mater popcorn bucket from Cars Land in California Adventure. My kids have fun playing with it, but other than that I just don’t really know what you do with it.
I can’t imagine collecting lots of them and having them displayed on a shelf or something, but if you love it then there’s no reason to stop.
2. Ponchos In The Parks
I totally understand being in the parks and it starts raining so you have to buy a poncho because you don’t have one.
We have some cheap ponchos we bought online that come on every Disney trip we go on whether the weather shows it will rain or not.
Disney ponchos are overpriced and expensive, so save some money and buy some before you go.
My family never brought ponchos on our trips growing up and it was frustrating waiting in line in the rain to buy them.
I’d rather save that money and buy other things on our Disney trips.
3. Sippers
The sippers, like the popcorn buckets just don’t make sense to me. This is something I’ve never bought and don’t plan to.
I think some are seriously cute, but again I don’t know what you do with them and I wouldn’t want to have a display of them.
4. Water
Did you know you can get free water in Disney parks? You can get a cup of free ice water at any quick service restaurant.
You can either drink it right from the cup they give you, or you can pour it into your own refillable water bottle to drink later. Use an insulated water bottle so it stays cold.
5. Bubble Wands
I’ll be honest, I bought bubble wands for my twins when they were 2. I regretted it so much and still cringe when I think about it.
First of all, they were like $30 each and I didn’t know that was the price till I was paying.
Then my son ran his nonstop and refused to put it down to go on rides or do anything else. It was horrible when the bubbles ran out because he was so sad.
I found out later that you can buy refills from the shops that sell bubble wands, but I wish the cast member I bought them from would have told us.
It doesn’t bother me when kids have bubble wands and the bubbles hit me, but I know this is something that bothers other people, so it’s something to be aware of if you get them.
