Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway (MMRR) is a really fun and unique Disney attraction. As a big Mickey and Minnie fan, it’s one of my favorites!
This ride is located in Toontown in Disneyland and in Hollywood Studios in Disney World.
Since it’s such a cute and unique ride, it can draw crowds and have a pretty big wait time.
No one wants to spend their whole Disney day waiting in long lines though, so we’re going to let you in on all the ways to ride Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway without a long wait.
Rope Drop
Rope dropping is when you’re in the park before it opens. You literally wait for the them drop the rope that allows access to the full park.
Being there the second the park opens gives you a huge advantage to getting on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway before many other people.
Head straight to the ride and chances are you’ll be able to walk onto the ride or only wait up to 20 minutes.
Before Closing
If you haven’t had a chance to ride without a long wait time, then go to Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway just before closing.
Many people have left the parks by this point making the wait times of rides drop significantly.
Right After Fireworks
If it’s a night with fireworks, then a lot of people in the parks will be waiting for fireworks and watching them.
At Disneyland, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, along with Toontown, closes during the firework show.
This means that when it opens again, it’s empty and the wait times on rides are barely there, just like in the morning after rope drop.
Toontown opens again at 10pm, so get there around 9:45-9:50pm and get ready to go to MMRR.
During Parades
Parades, like fireworks, draw people away from the rides. So during the parades, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will have shorter wait times than normal.
Take advantage of this and go get on the ride while other people are enjoying the entertainment of the parade.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass
Lightning Lane Multi Pass is basically what used to be known as Genie+ or Fast Passes.
This is a paid option to have a much shorter line to ride the attraction. We’ve done this several times and haven’t had a long wait at all. Probably about 5-10 minutes.
Early Entry
Early entry is exclusive to Disney hotel guests. So if you’re staying at one of the Disneyland hotels or Disney World hotels, you’ll have access to early entry in the morning.
This means you’ll get to enter the park before the rope droppers even get to. This also means the parks will have much less people in them since a lot of people cannot get into the parks yet.
Ride While On A VIP Tour
VIP tours are extremely pricey, so if you’re just looking for ways to skip the line on MMRR, this isn’t the option for you.
If you’re already wanting to do a VIP tour though, then this is a good way to utilize it and have a shorter wait on Mickey And Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
Included in your VIP tour is a few rides that you basically get to skip the wait for.
