Dates To Avoid Disneyland In 2025

Published by Elizabeth Morgan on August 22, 2024

2025 will be here before we know it and you can already started planning your 2025 Disney trips.

Before deciding on dates for your trip, you’ll want to take a look the dates to avoid Disneyland in 2025.

There are certain events and times of the year that can bring in huge crowds. We like to avoid those days and not deal with the extra crowds on our trips.

January 1st – New Year’s Day

A lot of people want to start the new year off at the Happiest Place on Earth, especially since people typically have work and school off on this day.

January 18-20 – Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend

Anytime there is a holiday where people are off from school and work, heavy crowds come around.

Martin Luther King Jr. weekend is the first holiday weekend of the year and people might want to escape to warmer California weather.

January 30-February 2 – Disneyland Half Marathon

Anytime there is a RunDisney event you’ll want to avoid it. They bring huge crowds to Anaheim and Disneyland, so you’ll want to skip these dates for the Disneyland Half Marathon.

Hotels also typically charge more per night where there is an event like this.

February 15-17 – President’s Day Weekend

Any 3 day weekend draws in bigger crowds and President’s Day weekend will be no different.

February 21-23 – Disney Princess Half Marathon

This is another RunDisney event you won’t want to be at Disneyland for, unless of course you’re running in the half marathon.

Mid March Through Mid April – Spring Break

Spring break brings massive crowds to Disneyland and California Adventure. There is not one set week for spring break, but most people will have spring break somewhere between mid March and mid April.

May 24-26 – Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend is another 3 day weekend that gets wildly crowded at Disneyland, especially because some schools are already out for the summer.

Grad Nites

Grad Nites happen on select nights during May and June. They make the parks a little more crowded and crazy.

July 4th

Disneyland will be very crowded on July 4th and the days surrounding it. On the 4th of July they do a special 4th of July fireworks show. It would be a lot of fun to see, if you’re okay with the extra crowds.

August 30-September 1 – Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend is another 3 day weekend that people will have school and work off.

Oogie Boogie Bash Nights

Oogie Boogie Bash will be on select nights during the Halloween season, typically from end of August through Halloween in October.

This special event takes place in California Adventure park. We don’t like going to California Adventure on those days because the park closes early.

Unfortunately, this means a lot of people park hop over to Disneyland at that point, so Disneyland gets more crowded in the evening.

What we like to do is go to Disneyland on those days and get there around rope drop time. That way we’ve usually done everything we wanted to do by the time people park hop, so we go back to our hotel at that point.

October 11-13 – Columbus Day Weekend

Columbus Day is also a 3 day weekend where the parks will be busy due to people not going to work and school.

November 11 – Veteran’s Day

Yep, Veteran’s Day is another 3 day weekend where people will flock to the parks with their family for a quick trip.

Thanksgiving Week

Kids are out of school during Thanksgiving week and many people have work off, at least for a couple of days, so they’ll be headed to Disneyland for vacation.

Christmas Week

Christmas week is an especially crowded time at Disneyland and California Adventure. People love going during their Christmas break from school. It’s also fun to see the Christmas decorations and feel the Disney magic and Christmas magic this week.

December 31 – New Year’s Eve

Some people love to ring in the new year at Disneyland, so New Year’s Eve will be a busy day in the parks.
