The Disneyland Resort has a ton of changes and big things coming in the next few weeks. These are the changes coming to Disneyland in May 2025. They’re good to know so you can plan your vacations around them.
Disneyland’s 70th Celebration Starts
Disneyland turns 70 years old in July, but the celebration for it starts on May 16th. There will be characters in new costumes, 70th decor on the castle and around the parks, 70th targets on Toy Story Midway Mania, and so much more fun.
Celebrate Happy Cavalcade Parade
As part of the 70th, there is a new parade called Celebrate Happy Cavalcade Parade. It will feature Duffy and ShellieMay, plus Mickey and friends. This starts on May 16th.
Paint The Night Parade Is Back
Pain The Night Parade is another parade for the 70th celebration. This is a nighttime parade in Disneyland park. They had this parade years ago and it is finally coming back on May 16th.
World of Color Happiness!
World of Color Happiness is a new World of Color show for the 70th debuting on May 16th. Guests will be able to vote in the Disneyland app during the day for which Inside Out 2 characters they want in the show that night. This show is on the water in California Adventure park.
Wondrous Journeys Is Back
Wondrous Journeys is a fireworks and projections show done at Sleeping Beauty’s Castle in Disneyland. It starts on May 16th. Fireworks will not be every night though.
Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! Parade Is Back
Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! Parade was in California Adventure park last summer for Pixar Fest and it is coming back for the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration starting on May 16th. See everything Disneyland is doing for the 70th celebration here.
It’s A Small World Changes
It’s A Small World is getting an update with the addition of Miguel and Dante from Coco in the ride. It was supposed to open at the end of April, but now the reopening date has been pushed back to May 9th.
Ride Closures
May comes with a lot of ride closures at Disneyland and California Adventure park, unfortunately. The ride closures include Mad Tea Party, Chip ‘n’Dale’s GADGETcoaster, Matterhorn Bobsleds, King Arthur Carrousel, and Soarin’.
Other Closures
There are a lot of things other than rides that will be closed in May too. This includes Anna & Elsa’s Royal Welcome, Sorcerer’s Workshop, the Enchanted Tiki Room, and more. See all of the closures plus dates at Disneyland in May here.
Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!
The Disney Theater in Hollywood Land in California Adventure park is getting a new show in it. Starting on May 16th, you can attend Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! This will be a huge hit with the little ones.
Star Wars Day
Star Wars Day is on May 4th, aka May the 4th. This day will be big for Star Wars fans. You can expect to see increased crowds in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. There will also be Star Wars Nite that night, plus May 1st and May 6th. The park will close early those nights for the event.
Season of the Force Ends
Season of the Force is a Star Wars celebration at Disneyland. It is currently going and the last day of it will be May 11th. They have special character meets, a projection show, special food offerings, and more.
70th Celebration Ticket Offer
The Disneyland Resort is doing a special ticket offer during the 70th celebration. You can get a 3 day one park per day ticket for $120 a day or a 4 day one park per day ticket for $100 a day.
Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is on Sunday May 11th this year. On Mother’s Day Disneyland gives out complimentary Carnation flowers to everyone.
Mother’s Day Character Dining
Disneyland will have special character dining for Mother’s Day. Storyteller’s Cafe will be doing Mother’s Day Brunch on May 10th and 11th from 7am to 1pm. The Plaza Inn will have Mother’s Day Brunch May 10th and 11th from 8am to 1pm. Goofy’s Kitchen will have a Mother’s Day Brunch Buffet on May 10th and 11th from 7am to 2pm.
Memorial Day
Memorial Day is on Monday May 26th. There will be increased crowds that weekend from May 24th through May 26th for the holiday weekend.
The Summer Season Begins
A lot of people start summer vacation right after Memorial Day, so you can expect to see the start of summer crowds at the end of May.
