If you are going to be heading to Walt Disney World in May 2025, then you’ll want to know these changes and everything that’s going on this month. There are new shows, closures, holidays, and more things to be aware of.
New Villains Show
Disney announced a new villains show a while ago and it is finally going to be coming to life very soon. You can find this show Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood Studios. The first day to experience the show is May 27th.
New Little Mermaid Show
Hollywood Studios is getting another new show. This one is called The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure. The start day of the show is May 27th.
Both Water Parks Open
For the last few years Disney World’s two water parks have not been open at the same time, but they finally will be in late May. Typhoon Lagoon is reopening on May 1st. Blizzard Beach will close on May 1st, then reopen on May 21st.
Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day this year will be on Sunday May 11th. Disney World usually has some special events and dining options for Mother’s Day.
Memorial Day
Memorial Day is Monday May 26th. You can expect an increase in crowds that weekend from May 24th to May 26th since people get work and school off for the holiday.
The Start Of Summer
Summer break for a lot of people starts after Memorial Day, so you can expect increased summer crowds to start at the end of May.
Flower & Garden Festival
May is the last full month to experience EPCOT’s Flower & Garden Festival. This Disney World festival ends on June 2nd. They have beautiful topiaries of Disney characters, fun food offerings, and more at this festival.
Ride Closures
Some of the Disney World ride closures for May include Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Test Track. See the full list of ride closures and dates here.
The Next Phase Of Muppets Courtyard Closures
Muppets Courtyard will start having more closures in May and some in June. On May 11, 2025 Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano will close for good. May 10th will be the last day to eat here. Muppet*Vision 3D & PizzeRizzo are set to close on June 8th.
