These are the upcoming changes to Disney rides in 2025 and 2026 that have been announced so far. They are for rides at Disneyland and Disney World. These changes come with closures and some exciting updates to existing rides.
Autopia Electric Vehicles
Autopia is an attraction in Tomorrowland in Disneyland. It has gas-powered vehicles and will be getting some updates. They are going to change the gasoline engines to electric motors. This change is said to be done by the end of 2026.
Rock N Roller Coaster Retheming
Rock N Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is a thrilling roller coaster in Hollywood Studios. It is going to close in 2026 and reopen later in 2026 with a Muppets theme instead of Aerosmith.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Updates
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Magic Kingdom is closing on August 4th and reopening sometime in 2026. This closure is so the ride can get some big updates and become more modernized. It is going to get new scenes, new blasters, and new ride vehicles.
Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue Closing
Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue is a slow attraction in California Adventure. It is permanently closing in early 2026 to make room for a new Avatar themed land. Read about the new Disney rides coming here.
Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run
Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run is a ride in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland and Hollywood Studios in Disney World. It is getting some updates in 2026. It will have adventures with The Mandalorian and Grogu and will have new locations on the ride like Tattooine, Endor, Coruscant, and Bespin.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom closed in January 2025 for refurbishments and is expected to reopen sometime in 2026. It is unclear exactly what Disney is doing to the ride, but they have said they are adding some extra magic to it. It’s one of the fastest rides at Disney World. DINOSAUR Permanently Closing
DINOSAUR is the main attraction in DinoLand USA in Animal Kingdom park. It will be closing permanently in early 2026. This whole land is closing to make room for a new Tropical Americas land that will have new rides themed from Encanto, Indiana Jones, and more.
Reimagined Test Track
Test Track is a car attraction in EPCOT. It closed in June 2024 to undergo a major refurbishment and get reimagined. It officially opens on July 22, 2025. It has new scenes, new technology, and the queue has been redone.
