These are all of the major things to know if you’re going to Disney World this summer for vacation. It’s good to know these things so you can plan ahead. This list includes ride closures, events, holidays, and more.
Both Water Parks Are Open
Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon will both be open all summer, for the time in years. Blizzard Beach will close for the season on September 8th, so the last day to go there this summer will be September 7th.
Muppets Courtyard Is Closing
Muppets Courtyard in Hollywood Studios will be permanently closing on June 8th. The last day to ever go to this area is June 7th.
Ticket Offer
Walt Disney World has some ticket offers going on this summer where you can save a little money. You can get a 3 day one park per day ticket for $89/day for adults and $59.07/day for kids. This does not include Magic Kingdom park though.
A New Nighttime Parade
Disney World is getting a new nighttime parade that looks beautiful. It is called Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away. It opens in the summer of 2025 and will be in Magic Kingdom park. It will have Moana, Peter Pan, and more.
Ride Closures
Disney World ride closures for this summer include Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Astro Orbiter, Test Track, Muppet*Vision 3D, Hall of Presidents, and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Read all the info and dates for closures here.
Other Closures
Other closures at Disney World this summer include the playground in the queue for Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Winter Summerland Golf Course, pools at resorts, rooms at resorts, and more. Learn all about the closures and dates for them here.
4th of July
4th of July is on Friday July 4th this year. You can expect increased crowds and special 4th of July events that day, like 4th of July fireworks, decor, and more.
Father’s Day
Father’s Day is on Sunday June 15th this summer. There is usually special character dining for the holiday and increased crowds in the parks.
It’s The Last Summer To Experience Dinoland
Dinoland, USA in Animal Kingdom will be closing for good next year. That means summer 2025 is the last chance to experience this land and everything in it, like the ride Dinosaur.
New Shows
Hollywood Studios park will be getting two new shows this summer starting on May 27th. One is Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After and the other is The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure.
Free Water Park Admission For Resort Guests
Guests of Disney World resort hotels have access this year to free water park admission on the day they check-in for their hotel. They can choose which water park to go to.
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival Starts
The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival starts at the end of summer. The dates for this festival are August 28th through November 22nd.
Halloween Time Starts In August
Halloween time starts at Disney World in August. An exact date has not been announced, but it will be sometime mid-August. There will be special Halloween decor throughout the parks, special food items, and more.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Starts
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will be on select nights from August 15th through October 31st. This is a separate ticketed event in Magic Kingdom park.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Is Closing
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is closing in August and should reopen sometime in 2026. It is going to have a major refurbishment with updated blasters, effects, and ride vehicles.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Might Close
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in Hollywood Studios will be closing sometime in the near future to change from Aerosmith themed to Muppets themed. The dates for the closure are unknown, but it could happen this summer.
