If you’re going to Disney World in the summer when it’s super hot out, you’ll want to do some research on how to handle the heat. These are the Disney World rides to avoid when it’s hot outside. If you want to go on these rides, try to go on them in the morning or evening, not in the afternoon when it is the hottest part of the day.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is an outdoor roller coaster and the queue for it is also outdoors. It can be pretty hot to go on in the summer heat.
Jungle Cruise
Jungle Cruise is a boat ride in Adventureland in Magic Kingdom. The skipper boats have covers, which provides some shade, but it can still get very hot on this ride.
Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain is another outdoor roller coaster. It is located in Asia in Animal Kingdom park.
Tomorrowland Speedway
Tomorrowland Speedway is a car attraction in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom. It is outdoors and in the full sun. It could really use more shade.
Dumbo The Flying Elephant
Dumbo The Flying Elephant is in Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom. Take your kids on this in the morning when the wait times are low and the sun is not so intense yet.
Kilimanjaro Safaris
Kilimanjaro Safaris is a safari attraction in Animal Kingdom park. The ride vehicle is an open air truck with a cover on the top. It can get hot though and if you ride when it’s super hot the animals will be seeking shade and will be harder to see.
Astro Orbiter
Astro Orbiter is in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom. This is an outdoor ride with no shade while riding. Avoid riding in when it’s super hot out.
The Barnstormer
The Barnstormer is a little roller coaster in Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom park. This is an outdoor ride that can be hot. It’s only one minute long though, making it the shortest ride at Disney World. See all of the shortest rides at Disney World here.
The Magic Carpets Of Aladdin
The Magic Carpets of Aladdin is a spinning attraction that is in full sun and gets very hot. This is located in Adventureland in Magic Kingdom.
Slinky Dog Dash
Slinky Dog Dash is a really cute Toy Story themed roller coaster in Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios. It is outdoors and not shaded. Disney World is the only Disney park that has this ride. See all of the Disney World rides that are not at other Disney parks here.
