These are all of the top rookie mistakes people make at Disney parks. If you’ve never been or haven’t been to Disneyland or Disney World in a long time, then make sure you do not do these things so you can have a super magical vacation.
Not Wearing Walking Shoes

When you are at Disneyland and Disney World you walk a ton, like tens of thousands of steps per day. You definitely need to wear good walking shoes and do not wear brand new shoes for the first time.
Forgetting To Make Dining Reservations

There are a lot of table service restaurants and character dining restaurants at Disney parks and their hotels. You will need to get dining reservations ahead of time to guarantee that you will be able to eat at them.
Dressing For Fashion and Not Comfort

With how hot it can get and how much you walk, you will want to dress comfortably at Disneyland and Disney World.
Going During Busy Times

Disney parks are really busy on the weekends, holidays, and anytime kids have breaks from school like summer and winter breaks. The crowds will increase a lot during these times.
Not Having The App

You need to get the Disney apps for the parks you are going to. This is where you will book a lot of things, see schedules of events, and see wait times for rides.
Sleeping In

Sleeping in is a big rookie mistake if you are wanting to go on a lot of rides without spending all day in line. Rope drop the parks when they open and go on several rides before the parks get busy around 11am.
Not Taking Breaks

Not taking breaks will wear you out so fast in the heat and with all the walking. Grab a snack and find somewhere to sit down for a bit.
Trying To Buy Park Tickets There

You need to buy your theme park tickets ahead of time to ensure that you can get a reservation for the date you want to go to Disneyland or Disney World. You cannot buy tickets at the gate, they must be purchased online.
Not Allowing Time For Transportation

Disney World has a lot of transportation options from their hotels to the parks. You will need to allow extra time for these though because there can be waits to get on them.
Not Planning Out Their Days

It’s good to have a plan going into your day for which rides are most important to you and which restaurants you want to eat at.
Waiting In Long Lines For Rides

Do not wait in super long lines for rides because it will waste a lot of your time. Rope drop and go on the big rides when the wait times are low and buy Lightning Lanes for some of them to skip lines. See ways to ride Disneyland rides without long waits here.
Waiting In Line For Food

Do not waste time waiting in line for food from quick service restaurants. Instead you can mobile order it in the app and it will be ready and waiting for you when you get to the restaurant.
Not Being Prepared For The Weather

You need to check the weather for your trip and dress accordingly. It is always a good idea to bring a poncho with you, even if it doesn’t show rain and you might want a sweatshirt in the mornings or evenings.
Buying Water

You do not need to buy water bottles in the parks. Bring a refillable water bottle and find stations to fill it and you can get free water from quick service restaurants. See more free things you can get at Disneyland here.
