You might be wondering the names of all seven dwarfs from the Disney movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
They are very lovable Disney characters in the movie. This was the first feature length film that Walt Disney came out with. It came out in 1937.
The movie is about a girl named Snow White and her wicked stepmom, the Evil Queen, who is super jealous of her beauty.
She sets out to have her killed so that she will be the fairest of them all when she asks her magic mirror.
She later finds out that Snow White (a Disney princess) is living with the Seven Dwarfs (who are miners), so she poisons her with an apple.
She’s put into a very deep sleep and it can only be broken with a kiss from a prince.
The story originally comes from The Brother’s Grimm fairy tales. In The Grimm Brother’s version from 1812 there weren’t Seven Dwarfs names.
Did you know that the dwarfs got their original names in the 1912 Broadway play?
Maybe you knew that, but you’re wondering what were the Seven Dwarfs original names? These were their names before the dwarfs return in Walt Disney’s animated movie.

In my opinion, these names are much cuter than the original names of the Seven Dwarfs! Walt Disney wanted the dwarfs to be named based off of their personality traits.
They’re the real stars of the movie and Walt knew they would be.
Each of the Seven Dwarfs are very different from each other. Let’s dive into some fun facts about the Disney dwarfs!
Grumpy
Grumpy is not the most fun to be around because he’s usually in a sour or grumpy mood. You will often see him with his arms folded.
He is afraid of witches. He is one of the most popular of the Seven Dwarfs because of how memorable he is. Grumpy is voiced by Pinto Colvig.
Sleepy
It should be no surprise to you that Sleepy always looks very tired. His eyes always look very heavy and droopy, like he’s about to fall asleep.
Sterling Holloway does the voice of Sleepy and also did the voice of Winnie The Pooh.
Doc
Doc is the leader of the Seven Dwarfs. He’s the oldest and makes decisions for the group.
He often has a hard time speaking because he jumbles up his words and gets flustered easily. He is the only dwarf with glasses. Doc is voiced by Roy Atwell.
Bashful
Bashful has a crush on Snow White and is more romantic than any of the other dwarfs. He has puppy dog eyes and rosy cheeks. Scotty Mattraw does the voicing for Bashful.
Happy
Happy is obviously a happy guy, but he shows other emotions too. It’s not uncommon to see him get angry, but most of the time he’s smiling and laughing.
He’s extroverted and lovable. Otis Harlan is the voice of Happy.

Sneezy
Sneezy has a big white beard and sneezes a lot. Most of the Seven Dwarfs are named after emotions, but he is not.
He is seen sneezing a lot and his voice makes him sound congested. He usually has his finger under his nose to try to stop sneezing.
He is very close to Dopey. Sneezy is voiced by Billy Gilbert.
Dopey
Dopey is a fan favorite and easily the most popular of the Seven Dwarfs. He’s always been my favorite!
He’s the only dwarf who doesn’t talk and doesn’t have a beard. He does make some little noises and het the hiccups though.
He’s also the youngest one of the bunch. Eddie Collins does the “voice” of Dopey.
Mel Blanc was originally going to do the voice of Dopey. He’s also the voice of Bugs Bunny.
