12 Best Rides At Magic Kingdom That You Have To Ride

Last Updated On March 9, 2023 by Elizabeth Morgan

The Magic Kingdom was the first theme park at Walt Disney World in Florida. It is the most visited theme park in the world, getting over 20 million visitors a year.

There are so many things to love about this theme park, like the food, the characters, the parades, and main street.

The biggest reason to go though is the rides! These are the 12 best rides at Magic Kingdom.

The way I chose these was from looking at travel sites and adding in our own opinions. For each of the rides I’ll tell you the height requirement, what land the ride can be found in, and the ride’s category.

If you only have enough time to go to one of Disney World’s parks before heading out on a Disney Cruise Line ship, you won’t regret choosing Magic Kingdom Park.

It’s magical and classic with Cinderella’s castle and Disney characters like Mickey and Minnie making appearances.

It can be hard to do all of the attractions in one day if the park is busy, so if you don’t think you can go on every ride, then these are the ones to prioritize and head to first.

#1 Best Ride At Magic Kingdom – Haunted Mansion

Haunted Mansion has been my favorite Disney World ride for a long time! I love the spooky vibes. You’ll get in a doom buggy and ride all throughout the mansion while listening to your ghost host.

You’ll see Madame Leota’s seance room, hitchhiking ghosts, a casket conservatory, and more.

The ride is slow and is not necessarily scary, but it could be too much for some younger riders.

Height Requirement – No height requirement, any height can ride.

Land – Liberty Square

Category – Slow rides, dark, classics, indoor, interactive

2. Pirates Of The Caribbean

Pirates is a very popular ride, and for a good reason. It’s such a fun and classic one! I love small drops, all of the different pirate scenes, and the music. Yo Ho, Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me) is the best!

You’ll get in a boat and see Captain Jack Sparrow, Dead Man’s Cove, pirates firing cannons, and more.

Height Requirement – Any height, there is no requirement.

Land – Adventureland

Category – Small drops, slow rides, dark, indoor, classics

3. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

For this ride you board a train and go through a haunted gold mine. It can go fast (up to 35mph) and some parts are dark. The railroad track is bumpy and rickety.

It’s a good ride for adults and most kids though.

This is a really popular ride and can have long wait times. Ride it first thing when you get there, or use Genie+.

Height Requirement – 40″ or taller

Land – Frontierland

Category – Small drops, thrill rides, classics, interactive

4. Space Mountain

Space Mountain is an indoor roller coaster in the dark. It’s a must-do Magic Kingdom attraction! You’ll get into a rocket and fly past meteors, shooting stars, satellites, orbs, and more.

Space Mountain is one of the faster rides, reaching 27 mph! This is another ride that can have long wait times, so you might want to make a reservation for it.

Height Requirement – 44″ or taller

Land – Tomorrowland

Category – Big drops, thrill rides, dark, classics, indoor

5. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

This ride is based off of the movie Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs. You’ll get in a train cart that teeters back and forth and race through a diamond mine.

This is a really popular and magical ride. You’ll get a view of Fantasyland and see the Seven Dwarfs working, singing, and whistling.

Height Requirement – 38″ or taller

Land – Fantasyland

Category – Small drops, thrill rides

6. Splash Mountain

This is a water ride that has classic characters and classic songs playing. It has a 5 story drop that is sure to get you wet. This is a popular ride, but to be honest, it’s not my favorite.

I love the first part, but don’t like getting wet! If you don’t mind getting wet, but don’t want to get soaked, then try to sit in the back.

Height Requirement – 40″ or taller

Land – Frontierland

Category – Big drops, thrill rides, water rides

7. Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

This attraction is a narrated 10 minute ride around Tomorrowland. You’ll go behind the scenes of the rides in Tomorrowland.

This is a nice ride to do when you want something more lowkey and relaxing after all the walking you’ve been doing. The line for this moves pretty quickly.

Height Requirement – Any height can ride this

Land – Tomorrowland

Category – Slow rides

8. Jungle Cruise

For the Jungle Cruise you board a canopied boat that has a skipper who will tell funny jokes along the whole cruise.

You’ll go through rivers in Asia, South America, and Africa see a lot of animals including hippos, elephants, lions, zebras, and more.

The wait times can be kind of long, so prioritize this ride over others with short wait times. This is another of the must-do Magic Kingdom attractions!

Height Requirement – No requirement, this can be ridden by any height.

Land – Adventureland

Category – Slow rides, classics

9. Peter Pan’s Flight

This is another of my favorite Magic Kingdom rides! You’ll fly over the iconic scenes from the Disney movie Peter Pan, starting in London, then heading to Never Land.

This is the perfect ride for adults and children. This ride can have long wait times, so be prepared for that.

Height Requirement – No height requirement

Land – Fantasyland

Category – Small drops, slow rides, classics, indoor

10. It’s A Small World

It’s A Small World is such an iconic ride at Magic Kingdom. I think it’s such a fun one! It’s great for adults and kids. It’s a 10 minute boat ride through the 7 continents.

There are cute people from around the world who sing the song “It’s A Small World” in different languages. I love the song!

This ride is at many of the different Disney theme parks around the world. It was first built for the World Fair, then was taken to Disneyland. After that it was replicated for Disney World in Florida.

Height Requirement – Any height

Land – Fantasyland

Category – Slow rides, classics, indoor

11. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

This is an interactive ride where you get into a star cruiser and try to blast all the targets. You can spin your cruiser around 360 degrees to get them all.

You’ll get a score along the way and can try to beat other people in your party. I always have the lowest score, but it’s still fun and I love seeing Buzz Lightyear.

Height Requirement – No height requirement

Land – Tomorrowland

Category – Slow rides, spinning, indoor, interactive

12. Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor

This is an interactive comedy show with the characters from the Monster’s Inc. movie. You might even get to be part of the show!

Land – Tomorrowland

Category – Indoor, interactive, stage shows
