If you’re going to Walt Disney World in Florida in August 2025, then it’s good to know about these changes before you go. There are new festivals starting, ride closures, and more that are good to be aware of.
Halloween Starts At Disney World
The Halloween season at Disney World will start on August 15th and run through October 31st. There will be characters in costumes, Halloween decor on Main Street, USA, special Halloween foods, and more.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a separate ticked event that is on select nights in Magic Kingdom. The first party is on August 15th and the last is on October 31st. There will be special character meets, a Halloween fireworks show, trick or treating throughout the park, and more.
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival Starts
The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival starts on August 28th and goes until November 22nd. This festival is included with a regular ticket to EPCOT park. There will be special foods and beverages, concerts, and more.
Muppet Labs Collection
The popular Muppet Labs collection of merchandise is coming back in August as part of the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. You can buy it at Creations Shop and other festival markets in EPCOT. This is starting on August 28th. This is exciting for Muppets fans since Muppets Courtyard permanently closed. Destination D23
Destination D23: A Journey Around the Worlds of Disney is the ultimate Disney fan event. It is happening at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at Disney World. The dates for the event are August 29th through August 31st. There will be different entertainment and panels. This usually comes with big announcements from Disney regarding new movies and things at the theme parks.
Summer Crowds Ending
Summers are very busy at Walt Disney World. You can expect to see the summer crowds start getting lower around mid-August when kids go back to school.
Ride Closures
Ride closures at Disney World in August include Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, and Spaceship Earth.
Other Closures

The Last Month Both Water Parks Are Open
Blizzard Beach will be closing on September 8th for maintenance, so that means August is the last full month to enjoy both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.
