Bluey is easily one of the most popular shows right now for children. It’s entertaining, cute, fun, and has real life storylines going on it.
It’s an Australian show that you can watch on Disney Junior and on Disney+.
My kids have been hooked on this show for years. The theme song is lively, the music in the episodes is calming, and the colors are pleasing to the eyes. The characters are sweet and funny.
It’s really a perfect show for kids and for families. I love watching it with my kids as a way to bond with them and I genuinely enjoy watching it, unlike other children’s shows.
Our family gets so excited when new episodes are released and we always watch them all immediately.
The show is about the Heeler family of dogs. There is a mom, a dad, and two daughters. Their names are Chilli, Bandit, Bluey, and Bingo. Some episodes also feature Bluey’s friends.

If you have little ones, then it’s really not surprising to hear that Bluey was the second most streamed show in 2023.
It had 43.9 billion minutes viewed on Disney+. I know my family contributed to this number quite a bit.
2. The Show’s Creator Was Inspired By His Family
The show’s creator, Joe Brumm, was inspired by his two daughters for Bluey and Bingo.
He also had a dog when he was a kid and the dog’s name was Bluey.

Bluey is entertaining for children and adults. Joe Brumm did that one purpose so that parents and their children could watch the show together.
4. An Episode Takes 5 Months To Make
Each episode takes 5 months to make, but thankfully they make multiple episodes at a time.
No wonder we don’t have new episodes as frequently as I would like!
5. Bluey Shows What Parenting Is Like
Bluey accurately portrays parts of parenting and helps moms and dads feel seen and understood. This is part of why adults love the show so much.
I love the scenes where you see how messy the backseat of their car is because it’s so hard to keep clean with little kids.
I also love the scene where Chilli just needs a 20 minute break from her kids because she’s overstimulated from them. I can definitely relate!
6. It Shows Unstructured Childhood Play
Bluey and Bingo are constantly learning through playing.
You don’t see them sitting in school learning how to do things, but instead you see them playing and learning a lot of things while doing so.

7. We Don’t Know Who Voices Bluey And Bingo

8. Joe Brumm’s Family Played The Games
Bluey has a lot of really cute games that the girls and the family play in different episodes, like Keepy Uppy, Tickle Crabs, Magic Xylophone, and more.
These games were inspired by the games that Joe Brumm played with his family growing up.
9. Bluey And Her Family Are Heeler Dogs
Bluey and Bandit are Blue Heeler dogs and Chilli and Bingo are Red Heeler dogs. Now you know where they got their last name, Heeler, from too!
The real name of heeler dogs is actually the Australian Cattle Dog though.

10. It’s The Australian Version Of Peppa Pig
Joe Brumm wanted to make an Australian version of the show Peppa Pig. Episodes of Bluey are a few minutes longer than episodes of Peppa Pig, but they definitely have a similar feel to them.
My kids have loved both shows and watch both regularly. I think Bluey is good for a wider age range than Peppa Pig is though.
11. Some Parts Of The Show Are Banned
There are some episodes and scenes of episodes that have been banned from the U.S. and globally as well.
One banned episode talks about poop. The episode Exercise (season 3 episode 29) has a banned scene where Bandit weighs himself and is unhappy with what’s on the scale. Parents did not think this set a good example for their kids.
