Published by Elizabeth Morgan on September 16, 2024

Inside Out 2 was one of the biggest movies of 2024! We saw it on opening day (June 14, 2024) and absolutely loved it.

The new emotions are so fun, Riley is so relatable to teenagers, and parts of it even pull at your heart strings.

This movie follows Riley from the first movie and we get to see what’s going on with her emotions inside of her and see her deal with some new emotions for the first time.

The emotion Anxiety quickly became a fan favorite as she is so cute, funny, and has even helped people understand their own emotions and anxiety better.

There are some really cool things you can learn about this movie. I’m going to share with you the best Inside Out 2 facts and I know you’re going to love reading them.

The reason that Anxiety is orange is because the color orange causes anxiety for some people.

She sure is super cute with her orange hair and outfit though.

3. Some Of The New Emotions Were Going To Be In The First Movie

There have been a total of 27 emotions considered for the Inside Out movies.

The first movie had 5 emotions, Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear, and Anger. The second movie has those 5 emotions, plus 5 new ones. They are Envy, Anxiety, Ennui, Embarrassment, and Nostalgia.

Envy and Ennui were going to be in the first movie, but ended up not making the cut.

4. Teenage Girls Gave The Director Feedback

The director really wanted to make sure he got everything right about 13 year old Riley, so he had teenage girls give feedback about Riley.

It does not sound fun to have a group of teens critique your work, but the movie really did perfectly encapsulate what it’s like to be a 13 year old girl.

5. There Were Going To Be 3 More Emotions

There were almost 3 more emotions in this Pixar movie. They were going to be shame, jealousy, and schadenfreude.

Schadenfreude was going to be a German character with a German accent.

6. Envy Was Going To Have A Twin

Envy was going to have an identical twin named Jealousy that everyone had a hard time telling apart.

The two emotions are different, but a little too similar, so they scrapped this idea.

7. Riley Is 2 Years Older Than She Was In The First Movie

Even though the two movies came out 9 years apart, Riley is two years older in the second movie than the first.

She was 11 years old in Inside Out and 13 years old in Inside Out 2.

8. Phyllis Smith Came Out Of Retirement

Phyllis Smith came out of retirement to voice Sadness again. She recorded her voice parts for the film in Missouri instead of going to Los Angeles like the other voice actors did.

We’re happy she did this because we think she is absolutely perfect for Sadness.

9. The Character Anxiety Took The Longest To Design

Anxiety took the longest of the new characters to design for the movie. They had a few different versions of her.

She is the antagonist of the film, but in the early stages of the film she was much more antagonistic than she is in the final film.

10. Ennui Was The Easiest To Design

Ennui was the easiest of the new characters to design. She was inspired by a wet noodle and you can totally see it if you watch the way she moves and lays and everything.

They still had some challenges with her, but not like they did with the other characters.

11. Some Of The Characters Got New Voice Actors

Mindy Kailing did not come back to voice Disgust, so the role was given to Liza Lapira. Bill Hader was replaced by Tony Hale for Fear.

12. There Was Going To Be A New Island Of Personality

In the first Inside Out movie we see Goofball Island, Family Island, Friendship Island, Hockey Island, and Honesty Island. Inside Out 2 almost had a new one called Procrastination Island.
