Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is a super popular Disney attraction that can have very long wait times.
It is at two Disney theme parks. It’s located in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland in California and in Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Florida.
This ride is popular for a good reason. It’s a ton of fun! It’s thrilling and exhilarating. There is a battle between the First Order and The Resistance.
You’ll experience a small drop, going backwards, dodging, and scurrying around quickly. You don’t know what to expect next as there is not a track that it follows.
The only thing that is not fun about this ride is the long wait times that it had even years after opening.
I’m going to give you my best tips for ways to ride Rise of the Resistance without a long wait time.
1. Lightning Lane
Lightning Lane is by far the easiest and least stressful way to go on this ride. It is not free or included with your park ticket, but we think it is worth it.
You will have to buy a Lightning Lane that will be good for just this attraction. You will scan it at the Lightning Lane entrance and go into a line that is separate from the stand by line.
You will most likely still have to wait a little bit, but it is nothing compared to the normal line. You’ll just be in line with the other people who have Lightning Lanes.
2. During The Fireworks
Fireworks shows are usually at 9 or 9:30pm. They draw a huge crowd to them, which means a lot of attractions have shorter wait times.
This is a good time to check the app to see if Rise of the Resistance has a shorter wait. If it does, hurry over to it before the fireworks end.
3. Rope Drop
Rope dropping is when you get to the parks before they open and wait at a rope inside the parks for it to officially open.
Not a ton of people do this as it is pretty early in the morning. So if you do, you can beat a lot of people to Rise of the Resistance.
The downsides to rope dropping this ride are that a lot of other people who rope drop will head there first to. The other downside is that this ride is not always open right at park opening.
It’s a gamble, but it’s worth a try if you’re really wanting to go on this ride without waiting a really long time.
4. Right Before The Ride Closes
Right before the ride closes the line dies down quite a bit. A lot of people aren’t in the parks anymore by this point in the night.
Be sure to check the rides hours in the app though. Rise of the Resistance often closes at 10pm even when the park is open till 12.
5. On A VIP Tour
When you go on a VIP tour you get to skip the line on a few rides. You’ll definitely want to choose rides with longer wait times to maximize this benefit of the tour.
Rise of the Resistance is a good option for this rather than a ride like Mad Tea Party that never has much of a wait.
6. Early Entry
If staying at a Disney hotel you can take advantage of early entry. This is where you can go into the theme parks before guests who are not staying on property. This is even earlier than rope drop.
You can head over to Rise of the Resistance and see if it is open yet. Hopefully it is!
