Rope dropping at Disneyland is when you get to the parks early and literally wait at the rope they have up.
When they drop the rope you can enter the park and the wait times for rides are so much shorter than any other time of the day.
Those first two hours the parks are open are great for getting in a lot of rides without waiting long for any of them.
In this post I’m going to tell you three rides to never rope drop and tell you which rides to rope drop instead!
Are you ready? Then let’s go!!
1. Peter Pan’s Flight
Peter Pan’s Flight might seem like a good ride to rope drop since it’s known for having long wait times during the day.
It’s not a great one to rope drop though, because the line will already be about 30 minutes when you get to it.
This seems weird since the park just opened, right? But the reason it’s already that long is because people who stay at Disney hotels get early entry into the parks.
A lot of the early entry guests go straight to the Peter Pan ride and make the line long before the park officially opens.
2. Star Wars: Rise Of The Resistance
Rise Of The Resistance is another ride with long wait times during the day, but that doesn’t make it a good ride to rope drop. The reason is because it’s not always open yet when Disneyland park opens.
If you get there and it’s not open yet, then you will have wasted a lot of time walking to it since it’s kind of far. Also, it’s not super close to other rides, so it will take you a bit to get to other rides to rope drop.
3. Radiator Springs Racers
Radiator Springs Racers is located in Cars Land in California Adventure. It has super long wait times during the day, often about 2 hours long.
This ride has a similar problem to Rise Of The Resistance though. It is not always open when the park opens and it’s not super close to the other rides that are popular to rope drop.
So by the time you go finally get to a ride to rope drop, it might not have a super short line anymore.
Rides To Rope Drop Instead
So now you might be wondering what rides are good to rope drop. We’ll tell you!
The rides we suggest rope dropping in Disneyland park are Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Space Mountain.
If you’re with little kids, then you can usually do all or most of Fantasyland in about 2 hours if you rope drop it.
The rides we recommend rope dropping in California Adventure are Incredicoaster, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission BREAKOUT, and Toy Story Midway Mania.
Conclusion
These are the 3 rides to avoid at rope drop and rides to head to instead. We hope this helps you create a good rope drop strategy for your magical Disneyland vacation!
