Disneyland is such a fun and magical place! Before your next Disney trip, you’re going to want to check out this list of movies to watch before going to Disneyland.

A big part of the magic is meeting characters from your favorite Disney rides and riding attractions based on those movies.

You have to watch at least a few of these Walt Disney Company movies before going on a Disney vacation.

I’ll tell you which movies to watch and what rides, shows, and character meets are associated with those movies.

This list has movies for Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park. You can watch most of them on Disney Plus or you can purchase them.

Movies To Watch Before Going To Disneyland

• Alice In Wonderland – You have to see this movie before going on Mad Tea Party and the Alice In Wonderland ride!
• The Adventures Of Ichabod And Mr. Toad – Watch this before going on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.
• Dumbo – You’ll want to watch this movie before riding the ride Dumbo The Flying Elephant. This ride is also in the Walt Disney World Resort at Magic Kingdom.
• Fantasia – This is a movie to watch before going if you’re going to see the show Fantasmic with sorcerer Mickey!
• Finding Nemo – Watch this movie heading under water on the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage ride.
• Finding Dory
• Frozen – You can see Elsa’s Ice Castle while riding Storybook Land Canal Boats. You can meet Elsa and Anna in Hollywood Land in California Adventure.
• Frozen 2
• The Haunted Mansion – This movie is so funny and entertaining! Disneyland has a Haunted Mansion ride. It’s one of my favorites!
• Indiana Jones movies – Indiana Jones Adventure is one of the most fun rides in Adventureland.
• Jungle Cruise – Jungle Cruise is a movie starring Dwayne Johnson. The movie is based off the ride.
• Peter Pan – Peter Pan’s Flight is the most popular ride in Fantasyland. Last time we were in Disneyland we saw Peter Pan, Wendy, and Captain Hook walking around!
• Pinocchio – Refresh your memory on this movie before going on Pinocchio’s Daring Journey.
• Pirates Of The Caribbean – This New Orleans Square ride is a little spooky for young riders, but it’s so fun if you’ve seen the movies!
• Sleeping Beauty – The castle at Disneyland is Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.
• Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs – The ride Snow White’s Enchanted Wish is based off of this movie.
• Star Wars Movies – You have to watch at least one Star Wars movie before going to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. Here you’ll see Star Wars Launch Bay, Star Wars: Rise Of The Resistance, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, and more. There is lots of fun dining here too like Oga’s Cantina and the Milk Bar.
• Toy Story Movies – You’ll want to catch up on these movies before riding Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters.
• Winnie The Pooh – The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh is a really cute ride for little ones.

Movies To Watch Before Going To California Adventure Park

• Cars – You have to watch the Cars movies and get a good look at Radiator Springs before going to Cars Land. It looks just like it does in the movies! While there take a ride on Radiator Springs Racers, Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters, and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree.

• Guardians Of The Galaxy – Guardians Of The Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! is one of the most thrilling rides at the Disneyland Resort!

• The Incredibles – Incredicoaster on Pixar Pier opened in 2018 after having been Screamin for many years.
• Incredibles 2
• Inside Out – The ride based on this movie is Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind.
• The Little Mermaid – I love this movie! The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure is based on it. Watch the movie to remember the fun songs and sing along while riding this attraction.
• Monsters Inc. – Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley To The Rescue! is based off of this ride. It’s so cute! I love riding it and seeing my favorite characters.
• Monsters University
• Spider-Man Movies – WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure is a ride in Avengers Campus. You might see Spider-Man flying through the air at Avengers Campus while you’re there.
• Toy Story Movies – Watch these Disney movies before riding Toy Story Midway Mania and Jessie’s Critter Carousel. Midway Mania is also in Hollywood Studios in Florida. You can meet Jessie and other Toy Story characters near these rides.
