Disneyland will be starting the new year off with some closures and refurbishments in Disneyland park and in California Adventure park.
Thankfully none of the January closures are permanent or expected to last for too long.
It’s nice to know which attractions will be closed before your trip so you can plan accordingly.
Let’s get right into the full list of Disneyland ride closures for January 2025.
Disneyland Monorail
The Disneyland Monorail will be closing on January 6th for refurbishment.
There is not a reopening date, but it is expected to be closed for the remainder or January
Disneyland Railroad
The Disneyland Railroad will be closing January 13th for an extended refurbishment.
Parts of the railroad track need to be replaced to keep the ride operating and the guests safe.
There is not an official reopening date, but the goal is to have it open sometime this spring in time for the Disneyland 70th celebration that starts in May.
Grizzly River Run
Grizzly River Run is a river rapids water ride in California Adventure.
It is going to be closing on January 6, 2025. This is a seasonal closure since it’s a little cold for a water ride and they’ll be doing some refurbishments to the ride.
Disney has not announced when this ride will reopen, but we do not expect it to be closed for too long.
Haunted Mansion
The Haunted Mansion attraction will be closing on January 7th and should be reopening January 18th.
The ride is closing so Disneyland can make the yearly switch from Haunted Mansion Holiday (the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay for Christmas and Halloween) to the normal version of the ride.
Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind
Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind will be closing on January 6th for refurbishment.
It is unknown the extent of the refurbishment and how long the closure will last.
I know I’m hoping they add some emotions from Inside Out 2 to the ride. How fun would it be to see Anxiety on the ride?!
It’s A Small World
It’s A Small World will be doing it’s annual closure starting on January 21st. A reopening date has not been announced, but we’re expecting the ride will open again sometime this spring.
Disneyland does this closure every year to change the ride from the Christmas version to the classic version.
Upcoming
This post is about what’s closing in January, but there’s a closure coming in February you might want to be aware of too.
The Red Car Trolley will be permanently closing in California Adventure. It is closing February 9th, so the last day to ride it is February 8th.
The reason it is closing is to make room for an expansion of Avengers Campus. There is a Red Trolley Barn backstage, which is where the expansion will be.
Disneyland will start construction on the expansion in 2025. They are going to be adding 2 new rides to Avengers Campus, which will be Stark Flight Lab and Avengers: Infinity Defense.
