12 Tallest Structures At Disney World

Published by Elizabeth Morgan on December 16, 2024

Disney World is known for going over the top and all out when it comes to their parks. This list has the tallest structures at Disney World. They are structures in the parks, rides, and towers at some of the resorts. They’re really amazing to see!

Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort

One of the hotels at Walt Disney World is the Swan and Dolphin. One side is the Swan building and the other side is the Dolphin building. They share a pool in the middle. The Disney World Dolphin side is 257 feet tall, making it the tallest structure in all of Disney World.

Expedition Everest

Expedition Everest in a roller coaster in Animal Kingdom and the highest point is 199.5 feet. This is the tallest attraction in Disney World. The reason the height of this ride is 199.5 feet is because Disney would be required to put red flashing lights on top for airplanes if the structure was 200 feet tall, which would ruin the vibe of the ride. So they opted to keep it just under the limit.

Tower Of Terror

Tower of Terror is another ride that is just under 200 ft to avoid having red blinking lights on it. This building is 199 feet tall! It’s a drop ride located in Hollywood Studios.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom is 197 feet tall. Yes, that is correct, the tallest point of this ride is taller than the castle. It doesn’t seem like it though since it gets taller more gradually, and the castle is not as wide.

Bay Lake Tower

Bay Lake Tower is a tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort that is 195 feet tall. This building was built in 2009 when the hotel expanded.

Gran Destino Tower

The Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is 195 feet high. This building also came as part of an expansion. It was built in 2019.

Cinderella Castle

Cinderella’s Castle is 189 feet tall! It is more than double the height of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle in Disneyland. The castle is located in Magic Kingdom park. It is tall, beautiful, and magical.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Disney’s Contemporary Resort is 184 feet tall. This resort is right next to Magic Kingdom. The part that is 184 feet up is the original part of the hotel that opened in 1971.

Space Mountain

The building for the Space Mountain attraction is 183 feet tall. This building is so recognizable and iconic! It doesn’t look this tall, but the height includes the spires on the top. This ride is in Magic Kingdom park.

Spaceship Earth is 180 feet tall. This is the big ball you can’t miss in EPCOT in Disney World. The ball is about 165 feet in diameter, but it is raised about 15 feet up.
