If you’re going to Disney World in August 2025, then you’ll want to know about these Disney World ride closures before you go on your vacation. Thankfully, there are not a lot of rides that are expected to be closed in August.
Spaceship Earth
Spaceship Earth is an attraction inside the EPCOT ball. It is going to close on August 25th and reopen later in 2025. This closure is for some refurbishments.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a thrilling roller coaster in Frontierland in Magic Kingdom. It closed in January 2025 and will remain closed until sometime in 2026 as it is undergoing some big refurbishments.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is going to be getting some much needed improvements. It is going to close on August 4th and should reopen sometime in 2026. The ride is going to be getting new blasters, updated ride vehicles, and more.
Dumbo The Flying Elephant Playground
The playground in the ride queue for Dumbo The Flying Elephant is currently closed and does not have a reopening date. It should open sometime in 2025 though.
The Boneyard
The Boneyard is a playground in DinoLand USA in Animal Kingdom park. It is going to be closing permanently on September 2nd, so August is the last month to experience it. See a full list of Disney World closures for August 2025 here.
Upcoming Ride Closures
Upcoming ride closures to know about are Dinosaur closing permanently in early 2026 and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith closing sometime in 2026 to change to a Muppets theme. Dinosaur is closing to make room for new rides, like an Encanto ride. Read about the new rides coming here.
