If you’re going to Disneyland in December 2024, then it’s good to be aware of these changes and things going on before you start your magical vacation.
You’ll want to plan ahead with some ride closures, special events, and know which days are expected to be crowded.
You’re going to have an amazing time going in December and experiencing all that Disneyland has to offer at Christmastime!
Christmas Day
Christmas day, December 25th, is expected to be a busy day at Disneyland and California Adventure.
They have not announced if anything specific to Christmas day will be happening, but all of the seasonal Christmas specialties will still be happening, like the Christmas parade, characters in holiday outfits, the Christmas overlay on the castle, and seasonal food offerings.
The Christmas season is not ending in December though, it goes through January 6th.
New Year’s Eve
Disneyland is a fun place to ring in the new year, but there will definitely be big crowds out on December 31st.
Disneyland will have a special New Year’s firework show at 9pm and at midnight. There will be New Year’s countdowns in both Disneyland and California Adventure park.
There will most likely be extended hours till 1am or 2am. You can also expect free party hats, special menus at the restaurants, and twinkling lights.
Ride Closures
There are not a ton of ride closures for December 2024, thankfully.
You can expect to see a closure for Storybook Land Canal boats December 2-5.
Casey Jr. Circus Train will also be closed December 2-6.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closing in November and will reopen on December 12th.
The Disneyland Railroad is open, but the station in New Orleans Square is closed.
