11 Interesting Facts About Cars Land

Cars Land is located in Disney California Adventure park at the Disneyland Resort. It really feels like you’re in the Pixar Cars movies when you’re here. There are some really cool facts about this land.

It Cost 1.1 Billion Dollars to Build

Yes, you read that right, Cars Land cost $1.1 billion to build! Disney did not hold back and you can really tell when you’re there soaking in all of the amazing elements. The main ride, Radiator Springs Racers, cost $200 million to build.

Cars Land Opened on June 15, 2012

Cars Land opened June 15, 2012 as the first phase of California Adventure changing from a California theme to a Pixar theme. This was also about a year after the movie Cars 2 was released.

It Only Has 3 Rides

Even though it’s a pretty big land, it only has 3 rides. The 3 rides are Radiator Springs Racers, Luigi’s Rollickin Roadsters, and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree. This land also has restaurants and shopping.

It Has the Second Fastest Ride at Disneyland

Radiator Springs Racers is the second fastest ride at Disneyland with a top speed of 40 mph. The only Disneyland ride that’s faster is Incredicoaster at 55 mph.

The Sh-Boom Lighting Happens Daily

Every night around sunset all of the Radiator Springs neon lights come on one by one and the song Sh-Boom by The Chords plays. This is just like the scene in Cars when Lightning McQueen shows everyone that he fixed their lights and the same song plays. This is a really fun thing to experience!

You Can Meet Some of the Characters

Cars characters that you can meet are Lightning McQueen, Mater, Cruz Ramirez, and Red the firetruck. Lightning McQueen and Mater are often out by the Cozy Cone Motel. Cruz Ramirez sometimes is there too. Red is more rare to see, but when he’s out it’s usually by Luigi’s Rollickin Roadsters.

It Becomes Radiator Screams for Halloween

If you’ve never been to Disneyland for Halloween time, you’re missing out. Cars Land gets decked out with Halloween decor and is called Radiator Screams. The characters also get costumes. Lightning McQueen is a superhero, Mater is a purple vampire, Cruz is a pirate, and Red is a clown.

It Takes Up 12 Acres

This land is huge, coming in at 12 acres! Half of it, 6 acres, is just for the ride Radiator Springs Racers.

The Radiator Springs Racers Ride Vehicles Travel Far

The cars, or ride vehicles, on Radiator Springs Racers travel about 36,000 miles each year. That’s a lot of driving for a little car!

The Cadillac Mountain Range Is Very Unique

Tjhe peaks of the mountain range are actually Cadillac tail fins from Cadillac’s from 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, and 1962. They are tall, with the tallest one being 125 feet high.

Larry The Cable Guy Recorded Songs

Larry The Cable Guy is who voiced Mater in the Cars movies. He recorded 7 original songs for the ride Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree.
