These are all of the main things to know if you’re going to Disneyland in August 2025. There are so many fun events and things going on in August. It’s also good to know about the closures and plan your trip around them.
Halloween Starts
The Halloween season at The Disneyland Resort starts on August 22nd, so if you go at that point in the month you can experience Halloween there. If you go before that, you might see Halloween decor starting to go up around Disneyland and California Adventure.
Summer Crowds
Summer crowds are expected to last for about the first half of August, then the second half of the month will have lower crowds. This is because a lot of kids go back to school mid to late August.
Hot Weather
Disneyland experiences pretty hot weather in August, so plan your outfits with the heat in mind. Also, drink a lot of water while you’re there. You can get it for free from quick service restaurants.
Disneyland 70th Celebration
The Disneyland 70th Celebration is continuing in August. Some parts of the celebration will temporarily pause when the Halloween season starts, then will pick back up later on.
Disney Theater Shows
The Disney Theater is in Hollywood Land in California Adventure. It will have the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live show August 1st through 16th, then it will pause for the Halloween season. Pixar Parade is Pausing
California Adventure currently has a parade called Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! Parade. It’s part of the 70th celebration, but will be taking a break for Halloween time. You can see the parade August 1st through 3rd.
Fireworks Schedule
The nighttime spectacular Wondrous Journeys with fireworks will be nightly at 9:35pm from August 1st through 21st. Then Halloween Screams with fireworks will be at 9:35pm on August 22-24 and 29-30. It only runs on weekends, not weekdays.
Ride Closures
Rides that will be closed for at least part of August are Storybook Land Canal Boats, Casey Jr. Circus Train, Star Tours, Incredicoaster, Haunted Mansion, and Radiator Springs Racers. Get all of the dates and info on the Disneyland closures for August here.
More Closures
Aside from rides, there are a couple of other closures at Disneyland. Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is closed and will reopen on August 15th. The walkway between Avengers Campus and Cars Land is closed while they do construction for the Avengers Campus expansion.
Oogie Boogie Bash on Select Nights
Oogie Boogie Bash is an after hours Halloween party that you need a separate ticket to attend. It’s in California Adventure park, so that park will be closing at 6pm on event nights. Those nights will be August 17, 19, 21, 24, 26, 28, and 31st.
Plaza de la Familia Starts
Plaza de la Familia starts on August 22nd and will go until November 2nd. They have Coco themed entertainment in Paradise Gardens Park in California Adventure.
Choc Walk
The Choc Walk will be held in Disneyland on August 3rd. This could bring increased crowds to the parks.
Character Dining Changes
Storyteller’s Cafe will start doing Mickey’s Autumn Adventures during the day on August 22nd. Storyteller’s Cafe will then do Clarabelle’s Enchanted Halloween Dinner at dinner time starting on August 22nd. Goofy’s Kitchen will start Halloween themed dining on August 22nd as well.
