These are all of the things to know if you’re going to Disney World in August 2025. There are closures, events, and more. Knowing all of this will help you better plan your August Disney World vacation.
Halloween Time is Starting
The Halloween season starts at Disney World on August 15th and ends October 31st. You will likely see Halloween decor going up before that though.
Destination D23
Destination D23: A Journey Around the Worlds of Disney is a fan event happening at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. It will be August 29-31. There will probably be some big Disney news about movies and theme parks announced at the event.
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival starts in EPCOT on August 28th and will go until November 22nd. You can go to concerts, eat special event foods, and more.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a separate ticketed event in Magic Kingdom. In August it will be on August 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, and 29th. Magic Kingdom will close early on those nights for the event. Read about everything coming to Disney World for Halloween here.
Ride Closures
The Disney World rides that will be closed for part or all of August are Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, and Spaceship Earth. Get the dates and all the details on the closures here.
More Closures
Starbucks on the West side of Disney Springs is currently closed and there are some room closures at Resorts.
Both Water Parks Are Open
The water parks Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon will both be open for all of August, which is great for the summer heat. Blizzard Beach will be closing on September 8th though.
Summer Crowds
There are usually higher summer crowds for the first half of August, then the crowds lower in the second half of the month when a lot of kids go back to school.
Weather
Disney World weather in August is typically hot and humid and there are frequent rainstorms and thunderstorms. Pack a poncho in your day bag and dress for the heat.
Disney Starlight Parade
Magic Kingdom debuted a new nighttime parade in July called Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away. This parade will continue in August and have showtimes at 9pm and 11pm.
