These are the rides that are worse at Disney World than their version of the same ride at Disneyland. There are a lot of rides that are identical, but these ones have some differences. Some are shorter at Disney World, don’t get holiday overlays, or have queues that aren’t as fun to be in.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a ride you can find in Disneyland and in Hollywood Studios in Disney World. The Disney World version is worse because of the queue. The queue in Disneyland is much more elaborate and is full of hidden Mickeys and cute gems. The Disney World one took over the Great Movie Ride, so they didn’t have as much room to work with.
Space Mountain
Space Mountain is a dark roller coaster that can be found in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom and Disneyland. The Disneyland one is liked better by a lot of guests for a few reasons. One is that the side by side seating is nice compared to the Disney World version which seats one person per row and has a higher height requirement. Also, the Disneyland version changes to Hyperspace Mountain, which is Star Wars themed, for part of the year and the Disney World version does not do this.
It’s A Small World
It’s a Small World is known for being better at Disneyland than Disney World. The ride is 10 minutes long at Disney World and 15 minutes long at Disneyland. Also, the outdoor loading area and facade is so magical at Disneyland. Disney World has an indoor loading area that lacks some magic.
Pirates of the Caribbean
Pirates of the Caribbean is known for being worse at Disney World simply because of the ride time. At Disney World, Pirates of the Caribbean is an 8.5 minute ride and at Disneyland it is a 16 minute ride. The Disneyland version is much more relaxing and immersive with its longer ride time. Haunted Mansion
Haunted Mansion is a very similar ride at Magic Kingdom and Disneyland. The reason it’s worse at Disney World is because it stays the same all year while the Disneyland one changes to Haunted Mansion Holiday for Halloween and Christmas time. This is where it gets a Nightmare Before Christmas overlay.
Mad Tea Party
Mad Tea Party in Disneyland is preferred to the version in Magic Kingdom. The Magic Kingdom one is covered and doesn’t have the same magic to it. The Disneyland version is outdoors and has greenery with the lanterns. It’s absolutely beautiful at night. The Magic Kingdom version of Mad Tea Party used to be uncovered, but was later covered because it had to close when it was raining and it was closing a lot. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is very similar in Disneyland and Magic Kingdom. The Magic Kingdom version is a little worse though because the queue is lacking some of the theming and immersive elements that you find in Disneyland.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is pretty much the same ride at Disneyland and Disney World, but the length of the ride differs slightly. This causes the Disney World version to have some empty spots that could use some animatronics to fill it.
