How much do you know about the beautiful Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom? These are some fun facts about the Disney World Castle that are interesting to learn.

It Is 189 Feet Tall

The castle at Magic Kingdom in Disney World is 189 feet tall when measured from the bottom of the water moat, but looks much taller because of the use of forced perspective. The windows on the castle get smaller as they get higher on the castle.

It Is Cinderella’s Castle

The castle at Disney World is called Cinderella’s Castle. It does not look exactly like the castle in the movie Cinderella, but there is a resemblance with the spires and other parts of it.

It’s The Second Tallest Disney Castle

There is only one Disney castle in the world that is taller than the castle at Magic Kingdom. It’s the Shanghai Disneyland Castle which stands at 197 feet tall. See the heights of all the Disney castles here.

The Design Was Inspired By Castles In Europe

The design for the castle was of course inspired by the castle in the Cinderella movie, but it was also inspired by the French Palace of Versailles and Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany.

The Building Materials

The building materials used for the castle were not bricks or marble like it looks like. The castle is made from concrete, fiberglass, plaster, and steel.

The Cinderella Suite Is Very Exclusive

There is a suite in the castle called the Cinderella Suite. You cannot book a night to stay here, it is much more exclusive than that. You must win a night through contests.

Hurricane Proof

Cinderella’s Castle was built to withstand winds up to 125 miles per hour. This is because Florida is known for getting hurricanes.

It Took 18 Months To Build

The construction on Cinderella’s Castle took 18 months from start to finish to build. It was completed in July of 1971, just a few months before Magic Kingdom park opened.

The Moat Holds A Lot Of Water

There is a moat around the castle that is filled with water. It has approximately 3.37 million gallons of water in it.

Cinderella’s Royal Table

There is a restaurant inside of the castle called Cinderella’s Royal Castle. It’s a character dining restaurant where you can meet a lot of princesses.

The Drawbridge Cannot Be Raised

It Was Decorated Like A Cake

For Disney World’s 25th birthday the entire castle was decorated like a birthday cake. It was pink, had a big 25 on it, frosting piped on, and the spires looked like birthday candles.
