Disney World opened it’s gates on October 1, 1971 in Florida. It started with just one theme park, Magic Kingdom. It now has four theme parks, but the others didn’t come for a while. There are still rides there today that were there when Magic Kingdom first got its start. These are all of the Disney World opening day attractions that are still there.
Haunted Mansion
Haunted Mansion is such a classic ride in Magic Kingdom. It’s a fan-favorite and has been there since the very beginning. The ride opened on October 1, 1971 along with the park.
Dumbo The Flying Elephant
Dumbo The Flying Elephant has been in Fantasyland since the beginning. It’s a really cute spinning ride that’s theming is from the movie Dumbo The Flying Elephant. In 2012 it was moved to a different area and they added a second version of it to accommodate its popularity.
Jungle Cruise
The Jungle Cruise is an original attraction in Magic Kingdom. It used to be more serious and is now very comedic. Also, it turns into the Jingle Cruise and gets a holiday overlay at Christmastime.
Prince Charming Regal Carrousel
Prince Charming Regal Carrousel is an iconic Magic Kingdom attraction in Fantasyland that has views of the castle. It was originally called Cinderella’s Golden Carousel.
It’s A Small World
It’s A Small World is a really cute water boat ride attraction in Fantasyland. It is a fan-favorite for many guests and is so nostalgic. This is a great ride for kids.
Walt Disney World Railroad
The Disney World Railroad is right when you walk into Magic Kingdom park. This is one of the longest rides at Disney World with a ride time of 20 minutes. See all of the longest Disney World rides here.
Mad Tea Party
Mad Tea Party is a cute Alice in Wonderland themed spinning ride in Fantasyland. It used to not be covered, but later was because it was closing frequently due to rain. Swiss Family Treehouse
Swiss Family Treehouse is a walk-through attraction inspired by the movie Swiss Family Robinson. This has been here since the beginning of Magic Kingdom.
Country Bear Jamboree
Country Bear Jamboree is a show with singing animatronics that is located in Frontierland. It has seen updates throughout the year, but it originally opened in 1971.
Hall of Presidents
Hall of Presidents is a show/attraction in Magic Kingdom that has animatronics of each of the presidents of America. This attraction undergoes updates every time there is a new U.S. preident.
