These are all of the main things you need to know if you are going to Disneyland between August 18th and 24th. This includes holiday seasons, entertainment, events, ride closures, and more. Make sure you read it all and take notes of what you want to make sure you do on your magical Disneyland vacation.
Halloween Time Starts
Halloween time officially starts on Friday August 22nd at the Disneyland Resort. Halloween decor is already popping up at the parks and Downtown Disney, but this is when Halloween treats will be available, holiday ride overlays will start, and when Halloween entertainment starts.
Oogie Boogie Bash
Oogie Boogie Bash is Halloween party at night in California Adventure park. It will be on August 19th, 21st, and 24th. California Adventure will close at 6pm on those nights for the event.
Haunted Mansion Reopens
Haunted Mansion closed on August 9th so Disneyland could add the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay to the ride. Haunted Mansion Holiday will open on August 22nd and remain this way until early January 2026.
Weather
The weather next week is looking like it will be partly cloudy or sunny most days with a high in the 80s each day. Most people will be wearing shorts and t-shirts to stay cool in the heat.
Crowds
Monday through Thursday should have lower crowds next week since kids are going back to school and the parks aren’t as busy on weekdays. Friday is the day that Halloween officially starts, so this is expected to be crowded and the weekends are always busier.
Ride Closures
Radiator Springs Racers is closing on Monday August 18th and Haunted Mansion will be closed Monday through Thursday, then reopen as Haunted Mansion Holiday on the 22nd. Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, Storybook Land Canal Boats, and Casey Jr. Circus Train will be closed all week. Read more info on the closures here.
Other Closures
The walkway that goes between Cars Land and Avengers Campus is closed for construction while Disney expands Avengers Campus by adding two new attractions. Napa Rose is also closed. Read about the new rides coming to Disneyland here.
Parades
The parades at Disneyland from August 18th through 21st are Paint the Night at 8:45pm and 10:45pm and Celebrate Happy at 1:30pm and 2:45 pm. The Halloween season starts on August 22nd, so the daytime parade will change to Mickey and Friends Halloween Cavalcade everyday at 1:30 pm and 2:45pm.
Nighttime Entertainment
Disneyland has a lot of nighttime shows going right now. Every night you can see Fantasmic, Fire of the Rising Moons, Shadows of a Memory: A Skywalker Saga, and Tapestry of Happiness. Wondrous Journeys with Fireworks is August 18th through 21st, then Halloween Screams with Fireworks is August 22nd through 24th. World of Color Happiness will be in California Adventure on the 18th, 20th, 22nd, and 23rd at 9pm and 10:15pm.
Other Entertainment
Mickey’s Trick and Treat is a show that happens several times a day every day in California Adventure park. Stitch’s Interplanetary Beach Party Blast is August 18th through 21st. Storytelling at Royal Theatre is on August 18th, 19th, and 22nd through 24th.
