Walt Disney World is getting a lot of new rides in the coming years. Some of them are completely new attractions and others are rides that are getting refurbished and will have some big updates.
Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent
Animal Kingdom at Disney World is getting a new Tropical Americas land that will have three rides in it. One of them is called Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent. It will take guests on an adventure through a cenote near a Mayan temple.
Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto
The next ride in Tropical Americas land is based on the Disney movie Encanto. It is called Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto. It will not have a height requirement, so everyone can enjoy this attraction. It will mostly focus on animals since communicating with animals is Antonio’s gift. It was previously said this would open in 2027, but no updates on that have been given recently.
El Carrusel de los Animalitos
Tropical Americas land is also getting an animal carousel called El Carrusel de los Animalitos. It will have wooden animals to ride on including Pumba, Timon, Pua, Kevin, Eeyore, and other Pixar and Disney animals.
Cars Ridge Run Rally
Magic Kingdom is expanding Frontierland and part of that expansion is a Cars themed area called Piston Peak National Park. This area will have two rides. One of them is Cars Ridge Run Rally. This will be a thrilling ride with geysers, snow covered mountains, and more. It is unknown when it will open.
Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along
The next Cars themed ride is called Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along. It will have a huge school bus sized animatronic of Miss Fritter and this will be her wildest demolition she’s hosted yet.
Maleficent Roller Coaster
Magic Kingdom is getting Villains Land sometime in the next few years. It will have two rides in it. One of them is going to be a Maleficent roller coaster that will go through a Briar that is around Maleficent’s mountain fortress. There is no word on when this will open.
Magic Mirror Dark Ride
The other new ride coming to Villains Land is a Magic Mirror themed dark ride. Some of the villains on this ride will include Ursula, Dr. Facilier, Scar, Cruella, and Jafar.
Monsters, Inc. Suspended Roller Coaster
Hollywood Studios is getting Monstropolis, a Monsters, Inc. themed land. The big attraction coming to this land is is Monsters, Inc. suspension roller coaster. The land will open in 2027, but the roller coaster will not be ready yet and will open at a later time.
Expedition Everest Updates
Animal Kingdom’s Expedition Everest ride is getting a big update. They are going to fix the Yeti animatronic and bring him back to life. There is no timeline yet for when this is happening.
Journey Into Imagination
Journey Into Imagination will soon be getting some updates, though Disney has not said when this is happening. They are going to add Dreamfinder back with Figment. Figment was taken out in a refurbishment in 1998.
Carousel of Progress Updates
Magic Kingdom’s Carousel of Progress attraction closed in July 2026 for a major refurbishment. It is expected to open in 2027 with new scenes, big changes to the attraction, and new voices for mom and dad.
Spaceship Earth
Disney World has announced that Spaceship Earth will get refurbished, but they have not said when. There will be updates to some scenes and some totally new scenes. It will focus on human connection and will be more modern throughout the attraction.
