The Holiday Season is Ending
The last day of the holiday season at The Disneyland Resort is January 7th. Starting on January 8th you will see decor come down and the holiday foods will no longer be offered.
Lower Crowds
You can expect much lower crowds in January than December had. This is more of an off time for travel to Disneyland. The weekend of Martin Luther King Jr. Day will a little bit of higher crowds since people will be off from work and school. Also, the last weekend will have a little increase in crowds due to a RunDisney event.
Weather
Rain is more likely in January than other months, but there are usually still plenty of days in January that do not see rain. Just bring a poncho and be prepared in case. Average highs around usually around 66°F and lows around 48°F. Mornings and evenings are more chilly, so be sure to bring a sweatshirt or jacket.
Wondrous Journeys is Back
The nighttime show Wondrous Journeys will return starting January 8th. There are projections on the castle and fireworks on select nights. Check the event schedule for times and details.
Celebrate Happy Cavalcade is Back
The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade Parade is part of the Disneyland 70th Celebration. It will be back starting January 9th.
Paint the Night is Back
Paint the Night will be back starting January 30th. This is a nighttime parade in Disneyland that features Mack from Cars, Sorcerer Mickey, Belle, and more.
Lunar New Year
Disneyland’s Lunar New Year will go from January 23rd to February 22nd. There will be special Asian foods, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in Lunar New Year outfits, Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession, and more.
Ride Closures
Ride closures in January include Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Haunted Mansion Holiday, It’s A Small World Holiday, Grizzly River Run, The Incredicoaster, Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, and Mark Twain Riverboat. Read dates and more about the closures here.
Other Closures
Other closures that are not rides are the walkway between Cars Land and Avengers Campus and the restaurant Napa Rose.
Early Entry is Ending
Disneyland Early Entry is ending in 2026. The last day of it for hotel guests is January 4th. After this, guests of the Disneyland Resort hotels will have a Lightning Lane to use instead.
Characters in 70th Attire
Mickey and his friends that you meet on Main Street, USA will be back in their Disneyland 70th Celebration outfits starting on January 8th.
Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend
The Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend is the last weekend in January, which is January 29th through February 1st. You can expect an increase in crowds during this time since more people will be in town to run the race.
Sweethearts’ Nite
Disneyland will have the after dark event Sweethearts’ Nite on select nights. It will be on January 22nd, 25th and 27th.
