RunDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend
RunDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend is April 16-20th. There will be an increase in crowds during this time. There will be a 5k, 10k, and 10 miler.
EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival
The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival is currently going on. The last day of it is June 1st.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Updates
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Magic Kingdom has been closed since August 2025. It will reopen on April 8th with big upgrades. They added new ride vehicles with new blasters, new scenes to the ride, and new ride photos that show your score and ranking on them.
Earth Day and Animal Kingdom’s Anniversary
Animal Kingdom first opened up on April 22, 1998. April 22nd is also Earth Day. They usually have fun activities, educational activities, and special character meets for the special day.
Ride Closures
The ride closures in April are Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin reopening 4/8, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopening in early May, Rock n Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets opening this summer, Wildlife Express reopening TBA, Affection Section reopening TBA, and WDW Railroad Frontierland Station reopening TBA.
Other Closures
The other closures for the month are Typhoon Lagoon reopening 5/12 and The Walt Disney Studios Courtyard opening 5/26.
Easter
Easter is Sunday April 5th. You can expect an increase in crowds for that weekend from April 3rd through 5th.There are currently big hand painted chocolate egg displays in some of the WDW Resort hotels. This includes Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. The displays should be there through April 20th.
Fireworks
Luminous the Symphony of Us is in EPCOT every night at 9pm. Fantasmic is every night in Hollywood Studios. April 1-11 is it at 8:30 and 10pm. April 12-23 it is at 8:30pm. April 24-30 it is at 9pm. Happily Ever After is the fireworks show at the castle in Magic Kingdom. It is April 1-18 at 9:30pm and April 19-31 at 10pm.
Parades
Magic Kingdom has a daytime parade called Festival of Fantasy Parade. It is April 1-4 at 12 and 3pm. They also have a nighttime parade called Disney Starlight parade. It will be April 1-11 at 8:30 and 10:30pm. The calendar is not showing showtimes for the rest of April, but sometimes it is not updated until a week or two in advance, so check the schedule if you are going later in the month.
Weather
The average weather at Disney World in April is highs in the low 80s, lows in the low 60s, and not much rain.
Crowds
Crowds will be high for the first 2/3 of the month, then average starting on April 20th.
