If you’re a fan of attractions that are a little on the scarier side, then you’ll want to add these to your must-ride list for your next Disneyland vacation. These are the spookiest rides at Disneyland and California Adventure park.
Haunted Mansion
Haunted Mansion is obviously at the top of the list for the spookiest rides at Disneyland. It’s located in New Orleans Square. You board a doom buggy and ride around while looking at ghosts, a creepy bride, headstones, and more.
Haunted Mansion Holiday
During Halloween and Christmas time, Haunted Mansion becomes Haunted Mansion Holiday. It has a Nightmare Before Christmas overlay with Jack Skellington, Sally, Zero, and more characters from the classic movie. Even thought this is the same building as the Haunted Mansion ride, it feels like a very different ride with the theme changing.
Pirates of the Caribbean
Pirates of the Caribbean is another attraction located in New Orleans Square. It has very spooky vibes with “dead men tell no tales” playing on the speakers, skeletons everywhere, pirates with hook hands, and more spookiness.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT is a pretty dark ride, which makes it spooky, but perhaps the spookiest part of this attraction is actually the queue you wait in to board the ride.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark
During the Halloween season Mission: BREAKOUT changes to Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark in the evening. It features some monsters, like a ghost and a dragon. The ride also plays a different song called “Monsters After Dark”.
Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride
Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is in Fantasyland in Disneyland. The whole ride just feels a little spooky and creepy. Some people love it and others don’t like it and won’t ride it.
Snow White’s Enchanted Wish
Snow White’s Enchanted Wish is a dark ride in Fantasyland. Overall, it’s a cute ride that isn’t very scary, but the parts with the Evil Queen are a little spooky and intense for little ones.
Alice in Wonderland
Alice In Wonderland is another Fantasyland ride that’s not necessarily meant to be spooky, but some parts are. Especially the parts that have the villain, the Queen of Hearts.
Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree
During Halloween time Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree transforms into Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree. The music and purple lights add a spooky Halloween vibe to the attraction.
Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween
Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters turns into Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween for the Halloween season. They add orange lights and Halloween inspired songs to the attraction to make it spooky.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance can be scary for some kids. There are a lot of Storm Troopers and Kylo Ren is pretty intense. It’s also all just very dark.
Star Tours
Star Tours is an attraction in Tomorrowland. This is a Star Wars themed ride. It’s in a somewhat confined space and is dark, making it somewhat scary for some people. This ride is also known for making people feel sick. See this list of Disneyland rides that cause motion sickness.
Indiana Jones Adventure
Indiana Jones Adventure in Adventureland is intense, thrilling, spooky, and even scary at times. If you’ve seen the Indiana Jones movies, then you’ll know the overall level of spookiness of this ride.

Pinocchio’s Daring Journey is a dark ride in Fantasyland. There are some creepy clowns, Pinocchio trapped in a cage, a scary puppeteer, and more spooky things.

Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin is an attraction in Toontown. The ride has scary villains and is a very dark ride. Even though it’s in Toontown, it can be too intense for some littler kids.

Matterhorn Bobsleds is a roller coaster in Fantasyland. It is not an overly spooky ride, but there are some scary elements to the ride, like the growling noises you hear.
