On our last Disneyland trip we didn’t fly home till the afternoon. It wasn’t enough time for us to spend money on park tickets, but we still wanted to have some Disney fun before flying home.
We decided to do character dining that day. We looked at the different options to decide which one we wanted to do.
Disneyland has four different options for character dining. One is at the Plaza Inn in Disneyland, so that was out since we didn’t have park tickets for that day.
Another is Storyteller’s Cafe at the Grand Californian Hotel. We’ve done that one before though and wanted to try something new.
We haven’t done the princess breakfast at Napa Rose in the Grand Californian, but decided to not do that one since it’s pretty pricey.
So that left us with Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel. We hadn’t done it before and thought it looked fun from the pictures online.
We were there during Halloween time, so it was Goofy’s Kitchen Celebrates Halloween instead of just the normal Goofy’s Kitchen.
This is an expensive meal, but it really is so much of an experience too, not just an average meal. It cost $65 per adult and $36 per child ages 3-9. Children 2 and under are free.
These prices do not include taxes and tips, so that’s something to keep in mind.
We booked it online before our trip. They make you have a card on file, but they do not charge it.
They only charge it if you do not show up for your reservation. You’ll pay for the meal at the end of it and can use cash or whatever card you want.
So to answer the question is Goofy’s Kitchen worth it? Our answer is 100% yes it is worth it! We had a blast and loved everything about it. I’ll share exactly what we loved and why.
The Characters
The characters were all in super cute Halloween outfits that were so fun to see.
When you get there you’ll check in with the front desk, then go take a picture with Goofy right away. It’s such a fun way to start!
After that we waited about 5 minutes to get called back and taken to our table. Characters started coming right away, which was so much fun.
We met Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Chip, and Dale. They each came to our table about 4 times. Also, about every 20 minutes a certain song would come on and they’d all walk around dancing together.
We loved how often they each came to our table! When we went to Storyteller’s Cafe, each character only came by one time and it felt rushed.
At Goofy’s Kitchen the characters came around a lot and spent a good amount of time with our kids.
We have an autistic son who was overwhelmed at first and having a little bit of a hard time. The characters were amazing with him!
Chip and Dale each hugged him for a really long time, danced with him, and made him feel so comfortable. He still talks about how happy they made him and he loves watching them on Disney+ now.
The Food
We didn’t want to go too early in the morning since we were worn out from 3 days in Disneyland and California Adventure. So we booked our meal at 11am for brunch.
Brunch was awesome because they still had breakfast food and they also had lunch and dinner food out too. They had a really good selection of foods for kids and adults.
They had Mickey waffles, cereal, bacon, fruit, pizza, steak, mashed potatoes, salad, lots of dessert options, and ice cream bar, and more.
I’m vegan and the chef came and talked to me. He said I could order allergy friendly Mickey waffles, pancakes, and a brownie.
He also walked around with me and showed me everything in the buffet that was vegan.
My Mickey waffles were fresh and so delicious. Mickey waffles are always one of my favorite things to eat on our Disney trips.
The Experience
The experience was so fun. It was much more lively and high energy than Storyteller’s Cafe.
They had fun music playing and the cast members were super nice and friendly. It was also very clean in there.
Everyone in the restaurant seemed like they were really enjoying everything. My kids loved trying new foods, meeting the characters multiple times, and dancing to the music.
This is a really fun family activity to do on your Disneyland trip. We will definitely go again!
