Halloween time at Disneyland is next level magical and oh so spooky! It’s my absolute favorite time of the year to visit the Happiest Place on Earth.
For 2024 Halloween time at Disneyland is going August 23-October 31.
There are so many fun things going on and changes at Disneyland and California Adventure to be aware of.
Some people think you have to go to Oogie Boogie Bash to really experience Halloween at Disneyland, but there is plenty that is included in your normal ticket.
Let’s get right into what all will be going on!
Halloween Decor
Main Street, USA in Disneyland has the big Mickey pumpkin, Mickey pumpkin wreaths, and other decor throughout.
The Disneyland park entrance has character pumpkins above it. The California Adventure entrance has a big Oogie Boogie above it.
Cars Land aka Radiator Springs turns to Radiator Screams with tons of Halloween decor, like faces on the Cozy Cones.
Rides That Change For Halloween
- Haunted Mansion Holiday– The Haunted Mansion gets a holiday overlay that is Nightmare Before Christmas themed. See Jack, Sally, Zero, and your other favorites from the movie take over this ride.
- Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark– This ride gets a little scarier with some monster theming while you help Rocket on a Halloween adventure.
- Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree– This ride will have purple lights and other Halloween spookiness going on.
- Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween– Luigi’s ride is transformed with orange lights, spooky decorations, and Halloween tunes.
Character Costumes
Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Chip & Dale always get updated Halloween outfits or costumes each year.
In Radiator Screams the Cars characters are also in Halloween costumes. Lightning McQueen is a superhero, Mater is a purple vampire, Cruz Ramirez is a pirate, and Red the fire truck is a clown.
Mickey’s Trick And Treat Show
This show used to be exclusive to Oogie Boogie Bash, but it is available daily with regular admission this year.
It is located in Hollywood Land in California Adventure. This is a great activity for little kids.
It has Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald Duck in costume, plus bubbles, projections, and Halloween songs.
Halloween Screams
Halloween Screams is a nighttime spectacular at Disneyland park. This show will have Halloween and Disney villain projections on the castle each night and fireworks some nights.
Halloween Food
Every year Disneyland comes out with a Halloween foodie guide. Be sure to check it out to decide which seasonal offerings you want to try.
Some of the foods we want to try this year are the Jack-O-Lantern Mickey Pumpkin Macaron from Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe, Mickey Bat Cookie from Market House, and Mater’s Haul-O-Ween Cone from Cozy Cone Motel 2.
Halloween Character Dining
There are 2 special character dinings this Halloween season. One is Goofy’s Kitchen Celebrates Halloween at the Disneyland Hotel.
Goofy and his friends will be in Halloween costumes for breakfast and dinner. There are also seasonal fall foods that will be offered. We have a reservation for this and will update on how we like it!
Storytellers Cafe is doing Mickey’s Autumn Adventures Breakfast Buffet. This is an Autumn themed character dining at the Grand California Hotel.
You can see the characters for breakfast and brunch, but not dinner. They will be in special fall outfits that you can only see here.
Plaza De La Familia
This is in Paradise Gardens Park in California Adventure park. There will be performances of music from the movie Coco and special activities to guests to do.
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit
Pick up your map and stickers to participate. These are $9.99 and sold at certain merchandise stores.
Look for pumpkins that are character inspired throughout Downtown Disney, Disneyland, and California Adventure. Return your map and you’ll receive a special keepsake.
Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tours
This is a 2 hour guided tour around Disneyland. You’ll hear stories, get Lightning Lane entries to attractions, and have preferred viewing for the Halloween Screams show.
Halloween Merch
The shops in the parks and Downtown Disney have a lot of fun Halloween merch you can buy that is exclusive to Disneyland.
They have Spirit Jerseys, shirts, Minnie ears, popcorn buckets, and more.
Oogie Boogie Bash
Oogie Boogie Bash is an exclusive event to Disneyland. It happens in California Adventure park.
They have trick or treat trails, exclusive merch (like the Minnie Winifred Sanderson popcorn bucket), exclusive characters, and more.
