Radiator Springs Racers is such a fun ride in Cars Land! It’s located in California Adventure, which is part of the Disneyland Resort in California. It’s my favorite ride in that park!
The ride is based on the Disney Pixar movie Cars. You’ll love learning these facts about Radiator Springs Racers!
Radiator Springs is the town that the movie is based in, so that’s of course where the ride got it’s name from.
1. Most Expensive Ride At Disneyland
It was the most expensive ride at Disneyland. This amazing ride cost $200 million to build!
That’s a crazy high number, especially when you think about how Disneyland originally cost $17 million to build when it opened in 1955.
Radiator Springs Racers is actually one of the most expensive theme park rides in the world, not just in Disneyland.
2. It Has Hidden Mickeys
If you love finding hidden Mickeys at Disney parks, then you’ll have so much fun with this attraction! There are tons of hidden Mickey’s on the ride and in the queue for it.
There are hidden Mickeys in the projections while tractor tipping on the ride, a hidden Mickey cactus in the queue, a hidden Mickey in the wires above you at the end of Route 66, Lizzie’s tiara in Stanley and Lizzie’s wedding picture in the ride line, a big hidden Mickey on a toolbox in Guido’s Casa De La Tires shop before you race, and more.
3. You’ll See A Lot Of Characters
This ride is loaded with awesome characters from the first Cars movie! It does not have cars from Cars 2 and Cars 3, like Cruz Ramirez though.
The characters you will see throughout the ride are Lightning McQueen, Mater, Mack, Sally, Doc Hudson, Sheriff, Frank, Fillmore, Sarge, Luigi, Guido, and Ramone.
4. Ride Queue
The ride queue has a really cool Route 66 detail! It has license plates from the states Route 66 goes through. These states are California, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois.
5. Race Winners
There is a race at the end of the ride where your car will race against another car full of people. Obviously one car wins and one car loses.
No one knows exactly how the winning car is determined, but there is a theory that the car who has the loudest people cheering wins! Test it out and let us know if that helps you win the big race.
6. Second Fastest Ride At Disneyland
This ride is the second fastest ride at the Disneyland Resort in California. It’s top speed is 40 mph. It feels a lot faster than that to me though!
The fastest ride at Disneyland is Incredicoaster with a top speed of 55 mph.
7. Cadillac Tail Fins
The Cadillac Range mountains on the ride are stunning and amazing to look at! There are 6 mountain peaks that resemble tail fins from classic Cadillac models from the 1950s and 1960s.
8. Other Info To Know
There are a few good things to keep in mind about this ride and know before your vacation if you’re hoping to ride it.
The minimum height requirement for it is 40″, so measure your little ones with their shoes on before you go to see if they can ride. If your kids aren’t tall enough to ride, but you still want to, then you can do rider switch for this ride.
This ride typically has a very long wait, like around 2 hours. It is not part of Genie+, but you can purchase an Individual Lightning Lane for it.
Also, it has a single rider line which can save you tons of time. This means you won’t get to ride with the people you’re at the park with, but if you don’t have young kids with you, then it’s definitely worth doing this and not wasting so much of your day standing in the line. Single riders must be at least 7 years old.
