California Adventure is a fun park that is part of the Disneyland Resort. Read up on these fun facts about this theme park!
Incredicoaster is the fastest ride in this park
There are some pretty fast rides in this park, but none as fast at Incredicoaster. Its top speed is 55 miles per hour! It also has one of the highest height requirements, which is 48″ tall. Some of the other fastest rides are Radiator Springs Racers at 40 mph and Guardians Of The Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! at 39 mph.
It cost hundreds of millions of dollars to build
The theme park initially cost $600 million to build! Now that’s a lot of money. It’s a little wild that they built a whole park at that price though since they now build entire lands that cost more than that. Cars Land alone cost $1.1 billion.
Toy Story characters are hidden in Cars Land
The Cozy Cone Motel is a prominent spot in Cars Land in California Adventure. The cones are different restaurants and in the middle is a lobby. If you go look inside the windows, look at the traffic cones and you can spot Toy Story characters hiding under the traffic cones, just like in Toy Story 2 when they cross the road.
The park spans 72 acres
California Adventure is a big park, but smaller than the other Disney parks in America. Disneyland park is 100 acres, Magic Kingdom is 107 acres, EPCOT is 305 acres, Hollywood Studios is 135 acres, and Animal Kingdom is massive at 580 acres!
This park was built instead of WestCot
Disney was going to build a theme park called WestCot, but scrapped that idea and built California Adventure instead. WestCot was going to be a California version of EPCOT, which is in Disney World in Florida.
The Radiator Springs neon lights come on every night at sunset
Radiator Springs (aka Cars Land) has tons of neon lights throughout it. They all turn on every night at sunset to the tune of Sh-Boom by The Chords, just like in the first Cars movie. This is a must-do experience. The lights are beautiful and it’s such a fun and lively thing to do.
A Bugs Land was replaced by Avenger’s Campus
California Adventure park has undergone many refurbishments and expansions since it opened. One of the most notable was that they took out A Bugs Land and replaced it with Avengers Campus.
It opened February 8, 2001
The official opening date of Disney California Adventure Park was February 8, 2001. The park has changed a lot since then and no longer has much California theming like it did back in 2021.
Radiator Springs Racers is the most expensive ride in the park
If you’ve ridden Radiator Springs Racers, then it won’t come as a surprise that it’s the most expensive ride in the park. It is very elaborate and thrilling. It cost $200 million to build this ride! It remains one of the most popular attractions in the park since it opened in June 2012.
The park is full of hidden Mickeys
Hidden Mickeys are little things that look like Mickey and are hidden throughout Disney parks. They are so fun to spot! One of the coolest in California Adventure is in Cars Land. Go to the end of the main road and when you get to the Stanley Our Founder statue you’ll look up and to the left to see a Mickey head and ears in the wires.
