Disney World has several transportation options to take you around the resort including the Skyliner, buses, monorail, and boats. Sometimes these have to close for routine maintenance.
The Skyliner is an aerial gondola that connects Disney Resort hotels, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios.

Disney World just announced that the Skyliner has another upcoming closure.
A closure on the Skyliner was announced for 2027 several months ago, but now they have also announced a closure in 2028.
It seems to close most years in January for a few days for refurbishment. This also happened in 2026 and has happened many other years in the past too.
If you want the Skyliner to be available on your Disney World trip, then you will need to plan your trip around the upcoming closure dates.
The Skyliner has stations located at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort, a station for guests at Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT.
During the closures Disney will have extra buses running from the resort hotels to the parks.
The upcoming dates for Skyliner closures are January 24-30, 2027 and January 24-February 2, 2028.
If you are going during those dates you may want to pick a different resort to stay at or change the dates of your trip to when the Skyliner will be open.
Current Disney World Closures
There are other closures going on at Disney World right now to know about if you’re visiting soon.
Carousel of Progress in Magic Kingdom is closed while the change the storyline and add new scenes to it. It is expected to open in 2027.
The Walt Disney World Railroad Frontierland station is closed and has been since July 2025 while they do work in Frontierland where they are adding Piston Peak National Park.
La Signature shop in EPCOT is also currently closed.
Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie is closed and expected to reopen later in 2026.
More Upcoming Disney World Closures
There are some other upcoming closures to know about too.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is closing on November 2nd and doesn’t have a reopening date yet. Read about that closure here.
