These are all of the Disney World closures for December 2025 that have been announced so far. This includes rides, experiences, and water parks. I also included upcoming closures at the end to see what will be closed beyond December. It’s good to know about these closures before going on your vacation to plan ahead and plan around them.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a fun and iconic roller coaster in Frontierland in Magic Kingdom. It closed in January of 2025 for a major refurbishment and is expected to remain closed until sometime in 2026, hopefully early in the year. Disney has added some extra magic to the ride and it has a whole new track on the entire ride. It will be fun to see if there are any other changes when it reopens.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is an interactive attraction in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom. It is also undergoing a huge refurbishment. It is expected to reopen sometime in 2026. It will have new blasters, new ride vehicles, new scenes on the ride, and more.
Walt Disney World Railroad Frontierland Station
The Walt Disney World Railroad Frontierland Station closed in July of 2025. This closure came because of all the construction in Frontierland where they closed the Rivers of America and are changing it to a Pixar Cars themed area called Piston Peak National Park. The Walt Disney World Railroad is still operating though. It is acting as a shuttle between Main Street and Fantasyland.
Kali River Rapids
Kali River Rapids is located in Animal Kingdom park. It closed in October for seasonal maintenance. Disney World has said that it will reopen in December, but they have not announced the official date yet.
Animation Courtyard
Animation Courtyard is in Hollywood Studios at Disney World. It closed at the end of September and is getting redone. It will be called The Walt Disney Studios when it reopens. Disney World also closed the show Disney Jr. Play and Dance as part of the refurbishment. It should be reopening in 2026.
Blizzard Beach
Blizzard Beach is one of two Walt Disney World water parks. Blizzard Beach closed in September for seasonal maintenance and has remained closed since. It is possible it could open in December because they do not always give a lot of notice on the closures and reopenings. Right now Typhoon Lagoon is open, so if you want to go to a water park you will have to go to that one.
Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short With Mickey & Minnie
Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie closed on October 20, 2025. It does not have a reopening date, but Disney World has said that it will reopen later this year, so it should reopen sometime in December 2025. This show is a great break from the heat or rain since it is an indoor show.
Upcoming Closures
Some upcoming closures coming up that we know about include the Skyliner which will be closing from January 25-31, 2026. All of DinoLand USA will be closing permanently on February 2, 2026. This includes DINOSAUR and Restaurantosaurus. Rock n Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will close sometime in 2026 and reopen in the summer with a Muppets theme.
