Disneyland has some rules for guest safety and smooth operation on rides. There is a ride that is requiring guests to completely put phones and personal belongings away to ride the attraction.

This is a trackless ride that has to close frequently due to people dropping things on the ride.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is one of the newest Disneyland rides and it is located in Mickey’s Toontown. It’s a dark ride that features Mickey Mouse and his pals. It takes you through different scenes and rooms on the ride.

The ride is overall not intense, babies are even allowed to ride it. There are some parts that have sudden movements that can take you by surprise though, especially if you’re a first time rider. Doing the conga dance with Daisy Duck is probably the part of the ride with the quickest and jerkiest movements.
These sudden movements can cause guests to drop their phones, Minnie ears, hats, and other belongings. This then causes the ride to shut down so Cast Members can retrieve the personal items and get the ride running safely again.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway’s Cast Members are now telling guests while they are in line to start putting phones and belongings away. There are signs in line about this too now.

After you board your ride vehicle the Cast Members are checking and asking you again to put phones and belongings away if they see them in your lap. They will not even start the ride for your vehicle until they see no phones.
This is unfortunate for Disney creators and influencers who like to film on the ride. I love filming hidden Mickeys and posting them on TikTok, Instagram, and our blog. See some of the hidden Mickeys on the ride here.

Some guests are really excited about this new change though since they are sick of the ride shutting down and they think seeing people filming on their phones ruins the vibe of the attraction.
Disneyland has another trackless ride, so we’re wondering if that ride will get the same rule about phones and belongings soon too. This ride is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Galaxy’s Edge.

It is trackless and has sudden movements and even a small drop. I personally don’t film on this ride because I worry about dropping my phone and my kids want to hold hands since that ride is a bit intense at parts.
We can also see this news about phones being put away coming to another trackless ride at Disney World. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is a trackless Ratatouille themed ride in The France Pavilion in EPCOT.
