These are the changes at Disneyland in January 2026 to know about. It’s good to know about them so you can plan your trip around them.
Holiday Season is Ending
The holiday season at Disneyland goes through January 7th. January 8th is the first day that most of the holiday offerings will be done.
Early Entry is Ending
The last day of Early Entry for hotel guests is January 4th. After this, guests of the Disneyland Resort hotels will have a Lightning Lane to use instead.
Wondrous Journeys Comes Back
Wondrous Journeys is back in Disneyland starting January 8th. This is a nighttime show with projections on the castle and fireworks on select nights.
Characters in 70th Celebration Outfits
Starting January 8th the characters on Main Street will be back in their 70th Celebration outfits instead of their holiday outfits.
Lunar New Year is Starting
Lunar New Year at Disneyland will be January 23rd through February 22nd. There will be special foods, Mickey and Minnie in Lunar New Year outfits, Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession, and more.
Celebrate Happy Cavalcade is Back
The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade Parade will be back in Disneyland starting on January 9th. This is a short parade down Main Street that features Mickey, Minnie, ShellieMay, Duffy, and more.
Paint the Night is Back
Paint the Night is a nighttime parade in Disneyland that has been running as part of the 70th Celebration. It is coming back on January 30th.
Lower Crowds
January typically has lower crowds for most of the month, especially on weekdays. You can expect an increase in crowds January 17-19th because of Martin Luther King Jr Day and an increase the last weekend because of a RunDisney event.
Ride Closures
Closures in January include Haunted Mansion Holiday, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, It’s A Small World Holiday, The Incredicoaster, Grizzly River Run, Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, and Mark Twain Riverboat. Read dates and more about the closures here.
Other Closures
Other closures that are not rides are the restaurant Napa Rose and the walkway between Cars Land and Avengers Campus.
Sweetheart’s Nite Starts
Sweetheart’s Nite will be in Disneyland January 22nd, 25th and 27th. This is an after hours event that requires a separate ticket to attend.
Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend
The Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend is January 29th through February 1st. You can expect an increase in crowds during this time.
