These are all of the permanent closures at Walt Disney World that happened in 2025. Fans are sad about them, but new things are coming to replace a lot of them. Some will always be very missed though. This year had a lot more closures than normal because of the new lands and experiences coming to Disney World.
Rivers of America
The Rivers of America was a beautiful area in Frontierland in Magic Kingdom park. It closed permanently on July 7, 2025. Disney World fans have not been happy about the decision to close this area.
Liberty Square Riverboat
The Liberty Square Riverboat was a big steam-powered vessel that sailed on the Rivers of America. It had to close since the Rivers of America closed. It also closed on July 7, 2025.
Tom Sawyer Island
Tom Sawyer Island was an island that was accessible via the Rivers of America, so this had to close along with it too. It closed on July 7, 2025. This whole area is changing into a Pixar Cars themed land called Piston Peak National Park.
It’s Tough To Be A Bug
It’s Tough to be a Bug was an attraction based on A Bug’s Life. It closed on March 16, 2025. This was to make room for a new show called Zootopia: Better Zoogether.
The Boneyard
The Boneyard was a playground in DinoLand USA in Animal Kingdom. This whole land will be closing in 2026, but this playground closed in September of 2025.
TriceraTop Spin
Triceratop Spin is another DinoLand USA attraction that permanently closed in 2025. It closed on January 12, 2025. DinoLand is all closing so a new land called Pueblo Esperanza can be built here. It will feature an Indiana Jones ride, an Encanto ride, and more. Read about the new rides coming to Disney World here.
Muppets Courtyard
Muppets Courtyard all closed permanently on June 8, 2025. A new Monsters, Inc. themed land is going to be built here featuring a suspension roller coaster, restaurants, and more. Read about this new land and others here.
Muppet*Vision 3D
Muppet*Vision 3D was the main attraction in Muppets Courtyard in Hollywood Studios. This ride closed on June 8, 2025 along with the rest of the land.
PizzeRizzo
PizzeRizzo was a quick-service pizza restaurant in Muppets Courtyard. It closed for good on June 8, 2025.
Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano
Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano was a nice restaurant in Muppets Courtyard that guests loved. It closed its doors on May 10, 2025.
Star Wars Launch Bay
Star Wars Launch Bay closed for good on September 25, 2025. This was an area in Hollywood Studios park where you could meet Darth Vader.
