If you are heading to Disney World in October of 2025, then you should be aware of all of these closures before you go on your vacation. It’s good to know about them and plan your trip itineraries around them. There are a lot of ride closures and some other closures to be aware of too.
Walt Disney World Railroad Frontierland Station
The Walt Disney World Railroad is an attraction in Magic Kingdom park. The railroad station in Frontierland closed in July along with more of Frontierland. The ride is still operating between Fantasyland and Main Street, USA though. It is unknown when the Frontierland station will reopen.
Spaceship Earth
Spaceship Earth closed at the end of August 2025 and has yet to reopen. It is unknown when this EPCOT attraction will open up again.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is a Tomorrowland attraction in Magic Kingdom park. It closed at the beginning of August and should reopen in 2026. The ride is getting a lot of work done to it including new ride vehicles and new blasters.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed in January 2025 for an extensive refurbishment. Disney World has replaced the entire ride track and is adding some extra magic to this iconic attraction. It is expected to reopen sometime in early 2026. This attraction in also closed in Disneyland right now. Read about Disneyland closures for October here.
Animation Courtyard
Animation Courtyard will be closing on September 25th for a lengthy rehaul. This is in Hollywood Studios in Disney World. The whole building is being redone and it will feature the iconic Sorcerer Mickey hat at the entrance.
Disney Jr. Play and Dance!
Disney Jr. Play and Dance is a fun show with Mickey Mouse and other Disney Jr. characters. It is closing as part of the Animation Courtyard closure. It is unknown if this show will return.
Star Wars Launch Bay
Star Wars Launch Bay in Hollywood Studios will be permanently closing on September 25th. Now Star Wars fans will have to go to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for all their Star Wars character interactions and experiences.
Kali River Rapids
Kali River Rapids is a water rapids attraction in Animal Kingdom park. It will be closing on October 6th for seasonal maintenance and is expected to reopen in December 2025.
Blizzard Beach
The Disney World water park, Blizzard Beach, closed in early September 2025 for seasonal maintenance. It is unknown when it will reopen, but guests can go to Typhoon Lagoon in the meantime.
Jungle Cruise Possibly
Jungle Cruise in Magic Kingdom get a Christmas overlay and changes to the Jingle Cruise for the holiday season. It typically closes sometime between mid-October and early November for this, but an exact date has not been announced yet.
Upcoming Closures
Some upcoming closures to know about are that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will closed in 2026 to change to a Muppets theme. DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks and Trilo-Bites will permanently close in February 2026 to make room for the new Tropical Americas land that will have a few attractions.
