These are all of the major things to know if you’re going to The Disneyland Resort in September 2025. This includes holidays, events, closures, and more. It’s good to know all of this so you can properly plan your Disneyland vacation and make it as magical as possible.
Halloween Season

The Halloween season starts on August 22nd, so it will be going for the entire month of September. This includes Halloween treats, tons of Halloween decor, characters in costumes, and Halloween entertainment going on in both theme parks.
Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon

The Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend is September 4th through September 7th. RunDisney events can bring in extra crowds and spike hotel prices in the area.
Oogie Boogie Bash

Oogie Boogie Bash will be on September 2nd, 9th, 11th, 14th, 16th, 18th, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 28th, and 30th. California Adventure park will close at 6pm on all of those nights for the event.
Rides With Halloween Overlays

There are a few rides that will have fun Halloween overlays in September. Haunted Mansion Holiday has a Nightmare Before Christmas overlay, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree transforms into Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters becomes Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-o-ween, and Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT changes to Monsters After Dark each night. Fireworks on Select Nights

Disneyland will be running their nighttime show at the castle Halloween Screams every night. Some nights are with fireworks and others are just with projections. Check the entertainment schedule for the day you will be in Disneyland.
Crowds

Overall, crowds at the Disneyland Resort are lower in September compared to other months. The summer months, October, and December are usually the busiest. Monday through Thursday is always the least busy, while weekends are much more crowded.
Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day is September 1st. That whole weekend is expected to see an increase in theme park crowds since people will have a break from school and work for the holiday.
Weather

The Weather at Disneyland in September is usually still pretty warm. The average high is in the 80s and average low is in the 60s. Most people will wear a shirt and shorts. You might want to bring a sweatshirt for the mornings and evenings though.
Ride Closures

Ride closures for September include Radiator Springs Racers, Dumbo the Flying Elephant closed September 16th and 17th, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closing September 2nd, Mark Twain Riverboat closed September 8th-11th, Storybook Land Canal Boats, and Casey Jr. Circus Train. Other Closures

Other closures at the Disneyland Resort for September are Pirates Lair on Tom Sawyer Island which will be closed September 15-17th, Napa Rose, and the walkway that takes guests between Avengers Campus and Cars Land in California Adventure.
Some Of the 70th Celebration Continues

A lot of the 70th celebration offerings have paused for the Halloween season, but some will continue. The Paint the Night Parade will continue to run at night in Disneyland and World of Color Happiness will continue in California Adventure park.
Last Chance to Ride Monsters, Inc.

Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue is an attraction in Hollywood Land in California Adventure park that will be closing in early 2026. If you aren’t going on another Disneyland trip before that, then this might be your last chance to ride Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue.
