These are all of the closures to be aware of at Disney World in September 2025. They include rides, buildings, and more at the Disney World Resort. Closures can be frustrating, but it’s important to update rides and things so they remain safe for guests. More closures can be added to this list since Disney World does not always give a lot of notice on refurbishments.
Blizzard Beach
Blizzard Beach will be closing on September 8th for maintenance. This is one of the two Disney World water parks. Typhoon Lagoon will remain open while Blizzard Beach is closed. This is typical for one water park to be open and the other to be closed, but guests were lucky to have both open for the summer.
The Boneyard
The Boneyard is going to be closing permanently on September 2nd. This is a playground in DinoLand USA in Animal Kingdom park. This whole land is closing in early 2026 to make room for a new Tropical Americas Land with an Encanto ride, Indiana Jones ride, and more.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closed at the beginning of August 2025 and will be closed until sometime in 2026. It is getting big updates like new blasters and new ride vehicles.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a big roller coaster in Frontierland in Magic Kingdom. It has been closed since January 2025 and will remain closed until sometime in 2026. This ride will also be closed in Disneyland in September. See the Disneyland September closures here.
Animation Courtyard
Animation Courtyard is going to be closing on September 25th for a major rehaul. This closure includes Star Wars Launch Bay and the Disney Jr. Play & Dance show. Read more about the updates coming to Animation Courtyard here.
Walt Disney World Railroad Station in Frontierland
The Walt Disney World Railroad attraction is still open, but it is only accessible from Main Street, USA and Fantasyland. The train station in Frontierland is closed for maintenance.
Spaceship Earth
Spaceship Earth in EPCOT is going to be closing on August 25th. It is unknown when this attraction will be open again or what exactly Disney is doing to the ride.
Starbucks at Disney Springs on the West
The Starbucks that is located on the West side of Disney Springs is currently closed and will likely be closed for at least some of September since it does not have a reopening date yet.
Upcoming Closures
The Jungle Cruise usually closes sometime in October for it to get its holiday overlay and become the Jingle Cruise. DINOSAUR in Animal Kingdom and the rest of DinoLand USA will be permanently closing at the beginning of 2026.
