These are the Disneyland ride closures for September 2025. A lot of attractions reopened in August, but more are closing in September. Plan ahead by knowing about these closures before your Disneyland vacation. More ride closures can be added to this list at any time. Hopefully they aren’t but Disneyland does not usually give a lot of notice on ride closures.
Dumbo The Flying Elephant
Dumbo The Flying Elephant is a super cute and popular attraction in Fantasyland in Disneyland. It is going to be closed on September 16th and 17th, then reopen on September 18th. Thankfully, this closure is quick, but it will be unfortunate for people who are only there on September 16th and 17th.
Pirates Lair on Tom Sawyer Island
Pirates Lair on Tom Sawyer Island is going to be closed from September 15th through September 17th. It will then reopen on September 18th. This will be another short closure.
Storybook Land Canal Boats
Storybook Land Canal Boats closed at the end of July 2025 and it is unknown when it will reopen. This is a slow-moving boat ride attraction in Fantasyland in Disneyland.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be closing for refurbishment on September 2nd. This roller coaster is a major attraction in Frontierland. It is unknown when the ride will reopen. This ride is also closed in Disney World ride now. Read about Disney World ride closures for September here.
Casey Jr. Circus Train
Casey Jr. Circus Train is yet another Fantasyland attraction in Disneyland that is closed. It closed at the end of July. It does not have a reopening date, but will likely be closed for at least some of September.
Radiator Springs Racers
Radiator Springs Racers is a super popular and fun Pixar Cars themed attraction in Cars Land in California Adventure park. It is closing on August 18th for an unknown period of time. It will likely be closed for some or all of September while it is being refurbished.
Mark Twain Riverboat
Mark Twain Riverboat is a big steam-powered vessel that sails on the Rivers of America. It is going to have a short closure from September 8th through September 11th.
Star Tours – The Adventures Continue
Star Tours – The Adventures Continue closed at the end of June 2025 and will be reopening on September 5th. This is great news for Star Wars fans who have missed this ride over the summer.
Upcoming Ride Closures
It’s A Small World usually closes in mid-October to change it to It’s A Small World Holiday. Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue will be permanently closing in early 2026.
