Sometimes you just need a break from the rides at Disneyland and there is still so much to do in the parks. These things to do are indoors and are not rides. They are a great break from heat or rain. There are things to do on this list that are in Disneyland Park and California Adventure park.
Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room
Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room is one of the best indoor activities that is not a ride at Disneyland. It is a show with bird audio-animatronics, fountains, and more. It is in a building with great air conditioning. The area you wait in before the show starts is outdoors and uncovered though. On a hot day it’s really fun to grab a Dole Whip and go watch this show.
Animation Academy
Animation Academy is in the Animation Building in California Adventure. This building is busy on hot days and rainy days, but for a good reason. You can get a drawing lesson from an animator at Animation Academy where they will teach you to draw a Disney or Pixar character.
The Bakery Tour
The Bakery Tour is in California Adventure park in San Fransokyo Square. The whole experience is in an indoor building. You get a free sample of sourdough bread, then you can watch them making bread. They make Mickey bread and other styles, but Baymax is the most interesting to watch. They put an extra piece of dough under his belly to make it bigger.
Minnie’s House
Minnie’s House is located in Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland. The line for it is outside, but the house is obviously indoors. There are a few little rooms to explore and the kitchen is interactive. Minnie usually does meet and greets in her backyard, but if it is cold or raining she sometimes does them in her living room in the house.
Mickey’s House
Mickey’s House is is Toontown next to Minnie’s House. His house is much bigger and gives you a longer break inside. There are a lot of rooms and areas to walk through and a few places to sit. Then you watch Mickey Mouse shorts and wait in line to meet him.
Turtle Talk With Crush
Turtle Talk with Crush is an interactive show in the Animation Building in California Adventure.
Anna & Elsa’s Royal Welcome
Anna & Elsa’s Royal Welcome is in the Animation Building in California Adventure. This is where you meet Anna and Elsa from Frozen.
Meet Princesses at Royal Hall
At Royal Hall in Disneyland park you can meet Disney princesses. You will not know who there is to meet until you are inside meeting them. The queue is outdoors, but the meet and greets are indoors.
Main Street Cinema
Main Street Cinema is on Main Street, USA in Disneyland. It is a small indoor theater that plays shorts like Steamboat Willie.
Mickey’s PhilharMagic
Mickey’s PhilharMagic is a 12 minute 3D show in California Adventure park.
Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough
Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough is where you go inside of Sleeping Beauty Castle and see windows that tell the story of Sleeping Beauty. There are a lot of stairs to get up into the castle, then back down.
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live is a Disney Jr. show at the Disney Theater in California Adventure.
Shopping
Disneyland, California Adventure, and Downtown Disney are full of indoor shopping stores.
Main Street Opera House
Main Street Opera House is located at the beginning of Main Street, USA. They have a show in here and you can just walk around or sit for a bit.
Minnie & Friends Breakfast in the Park
The Plaza Inn has Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park in the mornings. This is a character dining experience that you will need reservations for. Request indoor seating for it.
Indoor Restaurants
Disneyland and California Adventure have several indoor restaurants that you can eat at or sit in for a little break. Some of them include Red Rose Tavern, Alien Pizza Planet, Golden Horseshoe, Flo’s V8 Cafe, and Fiddler, Fifer, & Practical Cafe.
