The Lighthouse
At the entrance of the queue for the ride you can see a red and white striped lighthouse. This is not just for fun, it used to serve as the ticket booth of the attraction. This was where you would buy tickets for this ride. It was a D ticket attraction.
All of the Plants Are Real
There are tons of plants on this ride and they are all real and are maintained to stay to scale. Some of them are kept tiny. There are bonsai trees, succulents, and more.
The Oldest Living Thing in Disneyland
Storybook Land Canal Boats is home to the oldest living thing in Disneyland. It is a Mugo pine tree that you can see in Pinocchio’s Village when you exit Monstro the whale.
The Boat Names
The names are all named after female Disney characters, except Flower, a male skunk from Bambi. Some of the boats names are Daisy, Alice, Flora, and Fauna.

There are more than 465,000 gallons of water in Storybook Land Canal Boats canals.
Connected Water
The water on this attraction is connected to the water in Jungle Cruise, the Rivers of America, and Sleeping Beauty Castle moat.
They Dye The Water
The water on Storybook Land Canal Boats and everything it is connected to is dyed and Disney calls it dark water. This is to hide ride tracks and other underwater fountains and systems.
Monstro’s Eye Blinks
If you watch Monstro’s eye while not on the ride, he occasionally blinks. It is a very slow blink, so watch closely.
The Tiny Doors Have Hinges
The details on this ride are so intricate. The tiny doors in the scenes have tiny hinges and can even open and close.
It’s An Opening Day Attraction
This ride first opened on Disneyland’s opening day, which was July 17, 1955.
Its Original Name Was Canal Boats of the World
This ride originally was called Canal Boats of the World. The miniature scenes were unfinished and guests found it boring. It closed and reopened the next year as Storybook Land Canal Boats and the miniature scenes were finished.
