Cars Land is hands down the coolest land in California Adventure! It’s part of the Disneyland Resort.
You really feel like you’ve stepped into the Disney Pixar Cars movies when you’re in Cars Land. It’s amazing and looks exactly like Radiator Springs.

1. Cars Land Opened on June 15, 2012
This amazing land opened June 15, 2012. It was about 1 year after the movie Cars 2 came out.
It was the first phase of the park’s retheming from California to Pixar.

2. It Cost 1.1 Billion Dollars to Build
That’s a lot of money, right?! Disney did not hold back and cut corners when it came to bringing Radiator Springs to life.
The ride Radiator Springs Racers cost $200 million and is one of the most expensive theme park rides in the world.
3. It Has 3 Rides
Cars Land has 3 rides in it. They are Radiator Springs Racers, Luigi’s Rollickin Roadsters, and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree.
4. It Has the Second Fastest Ride at Disneyland
Radiator Springs Racers is the second fastest ride at Disneyland with a top speed of 40 mph. That’s a fast little car!
5. The Sh-Boom Lighting Happens Daily
Every night a few minutes after sunset, the Sh-Boom Lighting happens. This is where all of the neon lights come on and they play the Sh-Boom song.
This resembles the scene in the first Cars movie where Lightning McQueen fixes all their neon lights and shows them.
You can ask cast members in the area what time to expect the lighting to happen when you’re there to make sure you don’t miss it.
6. You Can Meet Some of the Characters
The cars you can meet are Lightning McQueen, Mater, Cruz Ramirez, and Red the firetruck.
Lightning, Mater, and Cruz switch out each other for meet n greets in the Cozy Cone area. You can meet Red sometimes near Luigi’s Rollickin Roadsters.
7. It Becomes Radiator Screams for Halloween
All of Cars Land gets decorated like crazy for Halloween or Haul-o-ween as they call it there.
The cars all have Halloween costumes (or car-stumes) that are so cute. Lightning McQueen is a superhero, Mater is a purple vampire, Cruz is a pirate, and Red is a clown.
Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree transforms into Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Rollickin Roadsters becomes Luigi’s Honkin Haul-o-ween. The cozy cones have creepy faces on them and more!
8. It Takes Up 12 Acres
This land is really big! 12 acres big to be exact. The Radiator Springs Racers attraction alone takes up 6 acres. Talk about a big ride!
9. The Radiator Springs Racers Ride Vehicles Travel Far
Each year the ride vehicles on Radiator Springs Racers travel approximately 36,000 miles!
10. The Cadillac Mountain Range Is Very Unique
Ornament Valley’s mountain range’s peaks are Cadillac tail fins. They are from Cadillac’s from 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, and 1962 The tallest one is 125 feet tall.
11. Larry The Cable Guy Recorded Songs
Larry The Cable Guy (the voice of Mater in the Cars movies) sand and recorded 7 original songs for the ride Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree.
